They worked, that's the best I can say. They leave a lot of residue in the grill and smell of burnt plastic bag. Smells like you are burning trash to start your grill. I much prefer the starter cubes, they work faster and leave no residue behind.

Can I use Insterfire to start my wood burning pizza oven is it safe
