No snake is needed. Let it sent over night and flush with hot water in morning.

Will it clear partially clogged drain?

My bathroom sink drains slowly; it seems to be partially clogged. Since this would bypass the partially clogged area, will it help drain the water faster?
Asked by: Granover
I had the same problem; a slllllooooowwwwww bathroom sink drain, so I used about one cup of this stuff and let it sit for about two hours, then ran hot water down the drain. It did help speed up the drain, so I used a small plunger to loosen whatever was down there, and it drained normally after a few tries. Since the drain had some overflow holes near the top of the bowl, I used the plunger to "pull" on the clog, and it finally went down. I also used it on a slow drain in my kitchen, that was clogged with lint and grease, and it worked fine. This stuff really works!

Been using this product for several years but only in the bathtub (for hair). I'm careful not to abuse or let it sit overnight only because it is so strong (luckily I don't have to). I clean out the hair with a pair of long needle nose pliers. Then I add about a cup of this stuff (make sure you wear goggles or some type of protective glasses). I let it sit about 45 minutes and then I flush it with water. It has never let me down but like I said only for hair. I've never tried it on grease. I'm always careful to throw grease in the garbage not down the drain.

I was on hold with a plumber when I came here, checked out products, and read the reviews. My clog was out of my snake's range, but I had given up on liquid drain cleaners years ago. Still, the comments on this one were so impressive that I hung up and headed to my local Home Depot. That decision saved me about $180. I put in two cups, waited about 1-½ hours, then put in a pot of boiling water. Repeated this about five hours later. Then I ran the faucet all hot. The sink filled up. Drat. Foiled again. Then, there was a glug, and the sink drained fast and furious. Awesome! Thanks to whoever makes this product! Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on how great it is!

My daughter has clogged it up many times due to her long hair. The last time I was unable to get this unclogged with the baking soda and vinegar trick. Also long tweezers weren't doing the trick or the hand snakes. I tried this per the directions. 2 cups and let wait for 6 hours. Rinse with hot water and bam! No more clogged drain. I don't think it had flowed this well since we have lived here. I'm not big on using chemicals but 10.00 is much cheaper than bringing out a plumber.

Possibly the auger cleared some of the blockage but after using auger tub still would not drain. Removed all the water from the tub and Poured entire bottle of Instant Power 67.6 oz. Hair and Grease Drain Opener into tub drain and let sit for 8 hours the flushed with boiling hot water and clog was cleared. Now can take a shower without water backing up in the tub.

We just moved into our place and were terrified when the bathtub drain started draining painfully slow. Cue two straight days of plunging like there was no tomorrow, infinite 2nd grade volcano experiments, and bellowing at the white whale that was our drain and we were getting ready to call the dreaded plumber of despair. Upon recommendation from a coworker, I sought this out one hopeless Friday afternoon. After pouring it down the drain, it actually plugged up! And started vomiting forth more of the disgusting rust-colored water that was present at previous plungings. However, about 2-3 hours later, we were freed from the slow drain of death! Halleloo ladies, it's back. 10/10 recommend, do it, well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works So I wanted to write the review right away. I had a clog in my kitchen sink, my son went to Kmart to get Drano which didn't work. We live across the street from Home Depot so I looked online and saw this product that had so many good reviews. I used half the bottle and waited for about a hour went to look and the standing water was gone! I boiled some hot water poured it down the drain and it went straight through very quickly and smoothly. DEFINITELY worth every penny which isn't much.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best over the counter drain opener!!! After having family visit for a week, our kitchen drains were almost completely blocked. Obviously there were things put down garbage disposal that should not have been. Tried dawn with boiling water (have used for grease blockages) snaked many times, tried 3 drain openers, none worked. After almost a week it was taking almost a half hour to drain a cup of water. Plunger didn't work at all after hrs of use. Saw reviews on this product and thought wth, for 10$. Put in about 2 cups, left overnight, got up at 5am and poured about 4 pots of boiling water and it was open again!!! Have unpluged many drains in my life and never had any luck with chemicals, had better luck with dawn and snake, but this is a very good product. Hope this review helps someone avoid all the headaches and saves the cost of a plumber.

The kitchen sink was clogged with grease and the water was draining extremely slow. i used a snake but could not unclog it, i was frustrated so i searched on Home Depot for drain openers and i came across this product. what influenced me on buying "Instant Power" was the great reviews it has. i went back home and followed the instructions on the bottle. the instructions suggested 2 cups for clogged kitchen sink with a 15 minute wait before flushing it with hot water. i was skeptical about such a short time of 15 minutes and the suggested amount of 2 cups so i used the entire 67.6 onces and waited about 10 hours (over night). woke up in the morning and boiled a big pot of water and pour it down the kitchen but the problem persisted. After coming back from work i had already planned to cut the pipe down in the basement and try to use the snake and hope to unclog it. At around 9:45pm i decided to boil more water. i poured the hot boiling water in the kitchen drain and noticed the water started draining a little quicker than before, so i boiled more water and poured it down the drain. After the second pot of boiling water, the water was draining normal, i decided to boil one more pot and while the pot was heating up i let the hot water from the tap run in the kitchen drain. i COULD NOT believed how smooth the water was draining. i let the tap hot water run for a while to make sure the pipe was entirely flushed. i poured the hot boiling water into the drain and that was it, no more clogged kitchen sink. i hope my experience helps someone.
