Can I use this product in my garbage disposal drain? I have water backing up into both sides of my sink as well as my diswasher.

No. Do not use Instant Power Hair & Grease Drain Opener in garbage disposal. You use on non-disposal side of sink. Please call our helpline with any questions 1-800-613-4242. Thank you!

I came home from a long weekend to find my kitchen sink full of backed-up stinky-oily-gray water from the upstairs apartment. It was an inch away from spilling over onto the countertop. The first application of 2 cups of Instant Power and letting it stand for a couple of hours did not clear the clog. Second try: Scooped out the gray water (now containing Lye) very carefully until the sink was empty. Another 2 cups of Instant Power and letting it stand overnight finally clear the clog.

I tried a couple of different drain opener's. One drain opener did not work while the other drain opener worked about 25%. I went to Home Depot on 12/26/18 and purchased the Hair & Grease remover product. I get home (I had already took the trap apart and nothing was in the trap). I poured some of the product down the sink drain and also down the shower drain in my back bathroom. I waited 1hr per instruction's on the bottle, I then ran just hot tap water down the sink and shower drain's. The sink took about a couple of minute's before the water started to drain. I went to the front bathroom in my house and also ran hot water down that drain (reason for doing this the front bath sink the water would just back up into the back bath sink). After running hot water just a few minute's the back bathroom sink the water was draining and the clog for now was cleared up. I still have about half the bottle left and will use the rest of the product and pour it down my drain's again. In the future maybe about every 3mos. I'll buy more of the Grease & Hair remover and use it in all the drain's in my home. Also (my house was built in 1962 and is an older home). I hope this review is helpfull and if the product doesn't work for you as it did for me there may be a bigger issue such as tree root's(?) in your sewer line or the clog is further down the line and may need to use a snake to clear the clog out of one's pipes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works When All Others Have Failed... I have to admit that I had little faith in this product as I have used many others that have failed miserably. My Wife owns a Hair Salon with 3 Shampoo Bowls that have consistently backed up due to the amount of hair that was being washed down the drains. I have tried several other industrial products that did not do what I felt would be at least a sub par job. When I saw this product and read the reviews I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot since there was a 100% money back guarantee. To my Surprise I used the one 67.6oz bottle between the 3 Shampoo Bowels, let it sit overnight, and voila !!! All 3 sinks drain as if they were NEW!! To think that I almost bought 2 bottles thinking that there was NO Way that one would do the job I was proven Wrong. I will be buying another bottle to use on my stubborn house tub & sink and will be spreading the word on the Wonderful Job that this product has done for me. Don't Think Twice about purchasing this product for any Tough Jobs you may have : )

I'm not one to use chemicals when it comes to clearing out clogs in our pipe system. I typically use the plunger and the snake to get the job done. For some odd reason, I was out of options for our master bathroom sink. It had slow draining water so I removed the trap pipe, cleaned it out, and ran the snake through the main pipeline and removed two large hair balls + other gunge that was pretty deep in there. I ran the snake a few more times and came back empty handed so I figured that was the end of it. I closed things up and ran the water, but somehow things got worse - the water now wasn't draining at all and became standing water. I used the snake a few more times but unfortunately that did nothing. Figured it was time to call a plumber but I took one last trip to HP and figured I'd see if I had any more options. Spoke to the plumbing specialists who recommended me this and only this for any mitigation using chemicals. At this point I had nothing to lose, if it worked, I saved myself paying a plumber, and if it didn't, I can get my money back. So I went home at 7pm, put 2 cups down the sink, covered the drain, and left it over night (roughly 12 hours). I boiled some water and poured it down the sink then ran the hot water. A few seconds in and I noticed the sink building up with water again so I shut the water off and the sink wasn't draining, standing water yet again. I was extremely disappointed and annoyed. About 10-15 minutes later, as I'm getting ready for work, I hear the water drain quickly. I looked at the sink and all the water was gone so I ran the water again and kept it running for a few minutes and it was instantly draining. I couldn't believe it. What a relief. Instructions could have been a little more clearer that some time may be needed after pouring the hot water but that's okay - just glad this did the trick!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Are you scratching your head? If you are reading this you are either looking at a large amount of stagnant water in your sink or in your bathtub or worse, you are staring with a dumb look on your face at the 300 kinds of clog removers, gels, foams or whatever else is the Home Depot aisle trying to figure out which one to buy. Stop the madness and get this stuff inside the plastic bag. That's right... that stuff that look like came out as a sub product of a nuclear power plant. If you do have female creatures leaving under the same roof as you do, you know that as pretty and good smelling they are, they also shed. A LOT. So... before you get angry, say something stupid and end up sharing the crate with Fido save your marriage and some bucks from a plumbers visit and pour this thing in the drain, wait a couple hours and pour a gallon of boiling water down the drain. Folks, this really works. My bathtub is running like new again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY A PRODUCT THAT DELIVERS!!!! In this day and age rarely do you get the results a product claims. I tried the other INSTANT POWER MAIN LINE CLEANER which was a total waste of money. I decided to try this with little hope thinking it wouldn’t work and I was pleasantly surprised! I thought I was going to have to spend more money on a plumber but this product delivers the goods! A few days ago my shower was backed up and draining slowly...took an hour to go down and it wasn’t completely drained. I researched online and found this product. I poured the entire 67oz down the drain and let it set overnight at least 8 hours. In the morning I poured about 4 cups boiling water down the drain and took a shower an hour later and NO MORE BACK UP! The shower drains perfectly!!!!! I will continue to use this product in the future. My home was built in the 50’s and has cast iron pipes. Thanks to this product I won’t have to dig up the foundation and spend $20k like one plumber quoted. Try this product and keep your receipt. There is a money back guarantee if you’re unsatisfied so you have nothing to lose.

He said he was going to purchase some as well. I had a sluggish running bathtub/shower. When showering the water would go up about 3 inches and stay there for a good 20 minutes after the shower ended. I put the recommended two cups into the shower and left it overnight. Then in the morning I turned on the hot water. First thing I noticed was the water did not stand at all, even from the first. Then I let it flush really well. That was about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it has been running super since then. This backup was also effecting my toilet in the master bathroom. Since using this, that toilet has been doing great also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try this first! The lavatory sink was backing up into the bathtub. Some of the plumbing in this house is 90 years old, and access to drain clean-outs is complicated. So before calling the plumber, and after reading the reviews for "Hair and Grease Drain Opener" on homedepot.com, I decided to give this product a try. Following the directions, I wore eye protection and gloves. I had two plastic cups ready to cover the drains. I put two cups of the liquid down the tub and one cup down the lav sink then covered the drains with the plastic cups. There was no odor and no sputtering. I must admit I was skeptical. Directions say to let sit overnight for best results, but I was impatient so after four hours I poured half a kettle of nearly boiling water in each drain. At first, no results. But in about a minute the tub drain started bubbling then whoosh! the water and muck was gone. I followed up with hot water from the tap, and now my drains are better than ever.
