Q:would this be a good idea to use on unfinished / raw, knotty pine (interior) stairs? the stairs lead to the bedroom so I would need it to dry quickly ... how long does it take to dry, and am I correct in assuming that this is not a preservative?

Answer This Question

A:  It dries very quickly. Drawback to using it inside is that it turns wood (at least cedar) a greenish grey. It's not a pretty color. I've only used it on raised garden beds & garage door trim (which I painted white after using the wood treatment).

Q:What?s the difference between the semi-transparent and high end/silver patina colors? Site doesn?t do a good job of explaining. I?m going to use this on treated lumber in a raised bed garden. Thank you!

    Answer This Question

A:  Well my garden boxes are made of ceder and red wood and with this wood treatment I know it is non- toxic. The color deepens as time goes by and when it gets wet it becomes a deep gary brown color. It's very nice color. The color differs from different woods. I would not use a treated wood for my garden boxes because of the toxic in that wood may leak into the vegetables.

      Awesome
Does what it claims, goes on like water, wipes off where you don't want it, beautiful aged wood appearance, and seals... water beads up... does continue to deepen color over several days. No stained clothing, no splatters. Really loved this product.

      DECK PROJECT
Excellent product. Noticed color changes within 10 minutes. New deck last year. 16x14. Weathered all winter. Bought 5 gal bulk product. More the enough. Have metal railings, not wood. Rolled it on and used large brush to go in between boards. Make sure to get end cuts covered also. Highly recommend this product. Once and done, no more deck maintenance.

Works as advertised. Used it on a treated pine Dogear fence. About a week now and turning shades of gray/brown. Just what I wanted. Built a deck at the same time without treatment. The difference is apparent. See photo. Painting with water is a learning experience. Careful on the vertical or coverage will include the ground! It arrived in about 10 days. Home depot on-line was easy.

          3 Years in 30 Minutes
After redesigning our 50+ year old sun room, we decided to install beveled red cedar siding. We have a cedar fence and wanted the siding to match the grey weathered look. I found this product on YouTube and found it was available through Home Depot. Purchase on-line and it took 4 weeks to arrive. That's ok. I bought 2 packages to make sure I didn't run out. Used a 2 gallon garden sprayer for application. The application itself took about 30 minutes. As stated in the product information, this will stain other things. We were prepared with plenty of clean water and buckets. Good thing. The raw siding was already installed. The product itself didn't stain anything but, the runoff from the siding was a dark amber color. The windows and doors on our room were wood, metal, and vinyl. We needed to wash/wipe all surfaces after spraying. Not a hard job and it was needed. After 10 minutes the color began to change and after 30 minutes it was amazing! We were hoping for a grey color and got a dark brown with a silvery reflection. It wasn't what we had expected but, it looks wonderful. We thing the cedar itself had a lot to do with the final color. The lighter cedar ended up darker that the redder cedar siding boards. Also, the finish on the siding boards had a lot to do with the color. Rough was darker. Smooth was lighter which makes sense. We tested first on a couple of scraps and a light coat of this product produced a more grey finish. Keep that in mind! After 24 hours I spayed all surfaces heavily with water as recommended. The color darkened and I needed to wipe down all the trim again. That was July 19th. It's now August 2nd and the finish is starting to 'age'. It looks even better. I'm used to cedar taking 3 years to develop a great color. This took 30 minutes and I couldn't be happier! The sun room and the fence accent each other and the siding looks like it has been there for years. ECO does just what I hoped.

Easy to mix and apply by brush, spray, cloth or dip. Gives a nice weathered patina look after a few weeks in the sun/rain. Takes about 6 days to arrive when ordered. Would be convenient if the stores kept some on shelves for those of us who need it readily available. Goes on easy and can be mixed with stains and other sealers. No mess or cleanup and can be applied anywhere.

Eco Wood Treatment was easy to mix and apply to the lumber for my new raised garden bed that I just finished building myself using the Old Castle Planter Wall Blocks and pine lumber from Home Depot. The lumber only needed one coat, there were no fumes, it dried fast, and cleanup was easy. By the end of the day, lumber darkened to a beautiful weathered brown as seen in the photo. I still need to attach the caps around the top of the garden bed with decking screws (they are just sitting on top in the photo) before I can fill with organic soil, hookup a drip system, and begin planting vegetables for the current season. Las Vegas just hit the 100 degree mark today so I can only work on this in the early morning hours. So far I'm very satisfied with this product and the fact that since it's in granular form I can mix up (with water) as much or as little as I need then store the rest for the next time I want to stain some wood.
