A: Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,The Better Mousetrap works differently than most other traps in that it doesn’t rely on blunt force to exterminate the mouse, rather it uses constant force to suffocate its catch. Humans and pets have definite bone structures, mice do not - they are almost all cartilage which allows the trap to grip the mouse tight killing quickly. If a finger or paw were to get in the trap the noise of the trap going off would be more startling then the pain of the impact. With non-serrated jaws there is no damage to hands or paws if they were to accidentally contact the trap.It’s easy, clean and effective and does not break the skin of its catch reducing the users exposure to bodily fluids and/or potential diseases that mice can carry.Please take note that Intruder’s much larger Better Rodentrap, for rats, gopher and chipmunk IS NOT child and pet safe.

A: Hi Mr. Poe. Thank you for your question. The manufacturer makes no specification as to what you should us as bait for the “Intruder The Better Mousetrap” I would combine the peanut butter with syrup to keep it sticky. The peanut butter by itself can dry out. It has used been successful for me in similar mouse traps. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

A: If you place the trap as directed the mouse will enter from the side and put it's head first. So when the trap is triggered the head with be covered by the top jaw - until you go to remove the mouse.

I put one trap out the first night and was happy to find one dead mouse the next morning. However...

I put one trap out the first night and was happy to find one dead mouse the next morning. However, not a single success story since the first night. I put both traps out the second night and every night since and a few weeks later, nothing. I highly doubt that we only had one mouse.

DO NOT BUY THESE!

First time I setup one of these traps and checked few days later. the peanut butter was gone. So I added more peanut butter and more towards to the very back. The next morning the was a mouse in the trap, but ALIVE! My son came to try to get him, and when he tried to get the mouse and the trap the mouse was able to run away. I have no signs of him since, so I do not know if he was injured so bad he died or if he is smart enough not to come back. No way do I want to make a mouse suffer. I only wanted an instant kill as the reliable original traps do. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE. THEY DO NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!!!!
