Q:Can this be used to bond aluminum shower panel u channel to a 3/4" marble threshold? The glass panel weighs 100 lbs, but can't drill threshold. Most tension/torque will be supported on side u channel by 2" stls. steel screws into 2x8" fir under tile.

        Answer This Question

A:  I would look to the original 8265 for this. The marble will need to be ground a bit to remove the gloss and add an area of grip

Used it to repair surfboard dings. Got to work fast but works very well as a filler with q-cell and for small laminations with fiberglass cloth. Cures very clear and wet sands for a smooth finish.

          Exploded and leaked!
Purchased this last week, removed it from the packaging and placed it in my tool cabinet along with the other epoxy brands (Loctite, Upstart, Devon, Gorilla, and T-88). This tool cabinet is in a well ventilated garage that never reaches above 79 degrees F. Yes, we have a thermostat in the garage. I immediately tossed the bottles and cabinet liner away because the epoxy fumes were too noxious. Why did this epoxy explode and leak when I haven't even opened the bottles yet?

These larger size tubes are a good value if you use a lot of epoxy. Be sure to dispense equal amounts (1:1 ratio), in order to do this, I dispense a puddle of mixture A, then dispense a equal size puddle of Part B next to A, then I mix thoroughly for 1 minute. Do not skimp out on the mixing, be sure to incorporate both mixtures thoroughly for 1 minute. You only have about 4-5 mins working time before it sets, it dries after 1 hour and is fully cured in about 24 hours. This has an odor right out of the tube, but this goes away once it is cured. I had good luck with this product fixing broken automotive interior plastic parts ( on the non visible underside) by scuffing it up with sandpaper, then cleaning with alcohol before applying the epoxy. Also works well on wood and metal.

love it. easy to mix and pours easily for up to 5 min.
Like it a lot. Love the bigger size bottles. Easy to mix and pour for up to 4 minutes. does not cure in 1 hour. Gets firm in one hour, but stays tacky easley bends. Will need one day before drilling or screwing. Dries almost clear. Easily see though it.

              Junk.
I am an accomplished woodworker. I measured this carefully 1 to 1 mixed it and applied to the joints of a wood mirror frame that was sanded to clean wood and wiped down. It is supposed to cure in one hour. After two hours it is still gummy. Now I have to figure out how to remove it. Use this only at your own risk. It is a junk product.

                dries clear, hard, and fast
This is the best for all my crafts. I use it to bond or add a shiney seal. I pour it into silicone moulds to make resin figures. It dries super clear and very hard. It sets fast. Never tacky. I love it. I recently used it to bond some broken porcelain tiles to the metsl flange of staircase. It worked great and came out beautiful. Just a warning though: it gets very very hot while setting and can burn your fingers, so always wear gloves and use tools to hold what you’re bonding. Also always have lots of acetone ready to clean up spills.

For years, every October, I mount a skeleton to the back of my truck. The Joints of the skeleton are always glued. For the past few years, the glue has broken loose and instead of his arms in the air, they are pointed back. All other glue has not been sufficient to hold with 65mph winds hitting it. This one seems like it will finally hold without attempting to re-glue it several times during the month. It drys fast, within 5 min, it is stuck, within 1 hour it is cured.

I use a lot of different types of adhesives. One of my regular go-to for a myriad of projects is a strong 5 minute epoxy. I have used most of the brands and found many to work well, but almost all are in the plunger type dispenser and therefore limited in quantity. Having used JB ClearWeld before in the syringe I decided to give the larger bottle version a try and it was a good choice. It allows greater control over quantity and ultimately size of projects. Keep your bottles clean and separated (use a different paper towel for each to avoid accidental hardening) and you will have epoxy always ready to go. (Project images are the handle of a 1/2" socket wrench tray which are prone to breaking. I have embedded a heavy wire in JB ClearWeld to reinforce the hollow plastic.)
