Product Overview

  • 1:1 mix ratio, 4-6 hour set time and cures in 15-24 hours
  • Tensile strength of 5020 PSI
  • Metal, plastic & PVC, wood, concrete, ceramic/tile & fiberglass
J-B Weld is The Original Cold Weld 2-part epoxy system that provides strong, lasting repairs to metal and multiple surfaces. Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled after curing. At room temperature, J-B Weld sets in 4-6 hours to a dark grey color. A full cure is reached in 15-24 hours. J-B Weld has a tensile strength of 5,020 psi and sets to a hard bond overnight. It can withstand temperatures up to 550°F when fully cured.
  • Versatile epoxy works well on cinder block, concrete, tile, brick, metal, glass, woodwork and other surfaces
  • Use as an adhesive, laminate, plug, filler, sealant and electrical insulator
  • Includes 1 fl. oz. of steel-reinforced epoxy and 1 fl. oz. of hardener
  • Non-toxic
  • 4-hour set time and 15-24 hour cure time
  • Waterproof, petroleum resistant, chemical resistant and acid resistant
  • Resists shock, vibration and extreme temperature fluctuations and withstands temperatures up to 500°
  • 5,020 psi tensile strength
  • 10,733 psi compressive strength
  • 7,320 psi flexural strength

Can this be used to bond a seam between sheets of vinyl flooring?

Can this be used to bond a seam between sheets of vinyl flooring?
Asked by: LKY
I would venture a guess that it would, but it seems there must be some kind of bonding agent made just for that purpose....I'm assuming you are taling about edge sides, not laying one floor over another.

I have a small crack on the bottom of my bumper can I use this for a reliable seal even through rain?

Asked by: Jackson
Although the specifications don't specifically state that this product is suitable for bonding plastics, they do say "multi-surfaces." Perhaps J-B Weld for plastics exists. As far as the bond cracking when subjected to deformation due to being bumped, with a stated 5,020 psi tensile strength, 10,733 psi compressive strength and, most importantly, 7,320 psi flexural strength, that would not seem likely. That leads me to speculate that the epoxy itself, being reinforced with metal fibers, wouldn't fail but the interface between the epoxy and the surfaces being bonded might. I would, however, like to know the answer as I'm not a chemical or structural engineer (and don't even play one on TV).

I have some rusty chips in a bathtub that I am planning to refinish. If I sand and clean the area, can this be used?

Asked by: Bynnee
2nd opinion: -J B Weld epoxy is a White and Black mixture resulting in a medium Grey compound. There are other 2-part epoxies expressly designed for use in filling and re-finishing Precelain-White bathroom/Kitchen fixtures. Carefully make note of the advised cure times of these products. Careful time observances, while using these mixtures, will help you avoid unintended mixed epoxy hardening before completion or ruination of the project! Use of miniature rotary tools will be required to remove improperly applied epoxies, in preparation of attempting to make the repair once more!

can I use it to replace my valve cover gasket?

Asked by: Jake
NO, do not try this or you will blow your engine. Buy the correct gasket for your engine and follow those instructions closely.
