Can I use JB Weld to patch a leak / crack at he copper metal dome on my roof? It is copper metal dome on the roof that is cracking and causing leakage. Thanks
Asked by: Felix
A sheet of copper itself is unlikely to crack. If the crack is along a seam with other copper, then I'd expect that seam to be soldered and should hold w/o cracking. Re-soldering that is possible. If the copper dome is leaking where it mates with other material, then that's a joint that will need to be able to expand and contract as the weather changes, due to the dis-similar expansion rates of different materials. In that application, epoxy would not be a good choice. Epoxy dries rock hard and is not able to expand and contract w/o cracking. In such an application, the appropriate caulking/roof sealant is recommended (also available at Home Depot).

I have some rusty chips in a bathtub that I am planning to refinish. If I sand and clean the area, can this be used?

Asked by: Bynnee
Not recommended. A tub refinishing kit is the way to go for such a project (also available at Home Depot).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from C'mon, it's JB Weld. What's not to like? I bought this, and a lot of it, for a project that was metal to metal to wood and therefore couldn't be welded for fear of fire. I used the JB Weld for the metal to metal portion of the project instead of any cheaper or unknown substitute because this was getting buried into a floor and would be very expensive to repair if there were a failure. The stuff has proven itself since before Paul Harvey advertised it, so you know it has longevity. Cheap knock-off's had no place on this project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed a hole in the side wall of my garbade disposal. I came here to find tips on fixing a hole in my in ground sprinkler. The hole in the garbage disposal has stayed sealed for 2 years. I am liking the looks of the seal over the hole in the inground sprinkler line. I will post my results if anyone is interested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JB Weld saved a $5,000 commercial ice maker Had a Freon leak at the compressor discharge line connection that was steel into soft copper. It wouldn't braze . Put on 2 layers of JB Weld original strength, let it cure 48 hours each time, then proceeded to get the ice machine up n running. Discharge pressure is 125 psi with no leaks. Held very well. Saved the day.
