Can this be used to bond a seam between sheets of vinyl flooring?
Asked by: LKY
If there is any kind of "give", when walked on, it will crack. I'm sure that there is a commercial bonding material available for that specific purpose. I bet a lot cheaper too!

I have some rusty chips in a bathtub that I am planning to refinish. If I sand and clean the area, can this be used?

Asked by: Bynnee
2nd opinion: -J B Weld epoxy is a White and Black mixture resulting in a medium Grey compound. There are other 2-part epoxies expressly designed for use in filling and re-finishing Precelain-White bathroom/Kitchen fixtures. Carefully make note of the advised cure times of these products. Careful time observances, while using these mixtures, will help you avoid unintended mixed epoxy hardening before completion or ruination of the project! Use of miniature rotary tools will be required to remove improperly applied epoxies, in preparation of attempting to make the repair once more!

Does it work to patch a cast iron tub?

Asked by: Jc
Hello JC In answer to your cast iron bathtub patching job. The good news is that the regular JB Weld 2-part epoxy product will patch a cast Iron bathtub crack issue. Since the tub is cast iron, the JB Weld is tailor made to repair this type of problem. A couple of items to keep in mind when you are doing the repair; 1. Be sure that the crack and a wide area around the crack are thoroughly dry. Use a hair drier on the warm heat setting to dry the area needing the patch. 2. Use the regular JB Weld product to patch not the quick setting type. You need time to spread out the Epoxy thoroughly into and across the crack area which will take a little time. 3. I'd suggest you purchase an inexpensive silicone kitchen spatula to smooth the JB Weld over the crack, This way you can get very close to a smooth surface without having to do much if any sanding to get the repair surface equal to the original surface. 4. Allow 24 to 36 hours curing time for the JB Weld before you add any water to the tub. This way adequate curing time will guarantee that the repair is as strong as is possible to achieve. 5. You may desire to color the repair to approximate the color of your tub. If you do, I would recommend you seek out a spray epoxy paint. This way you are placing an epoxy compatible paint over the JB Weld which should provide a long lasting repair. Just remember to spray only when the repair area is thoroughly dry for best results. Please provide adequate ventillation when spray painting. Good Luck with the repair JC, You may want to post your results for the tub. all for now, DrA

The best feature for me is I can align the parts for best fit before it sets up. I've even used it to re-size one of my rings which became too large and I needed make it "tighter fitting" so I put a couple of thin layers inside the band. It seems I got smaller as my age increased. It's been on the ring for over two years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brittle, Cracks too easily Got this to repair metal knob support for my oven however the product cracked after waiting 18+ hours to let it cure. I mixed the epoxy according to the MFR direction at a ration of 1:1 to adhere to the 1" in length metal shaft which holds the knob to turn the oven off and on. I supported the shaft with a metal nail in the hollow core and generously applied the epoxy to ensure sufficient contact to each end of the broken shaft as well as the hollow core and nail support. after waiting the recommended time I slid the oven knob on and depressed while turning per oven instruction but the bond was brittle and simply cracked. I have successfully used E-Z Wed Repair Stix MFG by Bar's Products to repair a heavy steel bird cage, but the company no longer manufactures the product. It appears that J-B Weld seems to have acquired their patent however the product is not comparable. It has a cement-like quality to it once dried, and resembles the texture of regular epoxy without much if any reinforced steel. I am truly disappointed.

Unless you have a 3-D printer - or can cast replicate the entire part, JB is the greatest for mending features like fixturing parts on appliances and components I've clumsily broken while disassembling them. Long ago I learned that JB is tappable: so my favorite gambit is to embed a lubricated fastener (screw) in the casting; and withdraw it to produce a finished hole. Over the years I've cast JB against mold release spray, silicon, multiple layers of paint, waxed paper, plastic file - and probable some other improvisations I don't recall. All with great success. Hence, JB has become one of my "GO-TO" solutions when I can'tr easily replace the part...

I own a 1998 Subaru that developed a leak in the top tank of the radiator. I have tried some other 2 part epoxies and this one seems to be lasting the longest. It is a high temp product. The only flaw in the plan is that it takes a long time to completely cure(15-24 hours). However as I said it seems to work. I have applied several thin coats and have not seen any leaks.

Took some work to prop it upside down with clamps, used the glue let it set for 2 days and now it's like new. I have my fingers crossed that it will remain that way. Good job J-B Weld

I had a plastic leg seperate from the screw on an electric frying pan. The leg is attached to the bottom of the pan so I needed a heat resistant bond. It worked great. The has held after several uses. Very easy to use. Didn't take much to make the bond.

It’s the only thing I know of that works to hold metal together short of actual welding. Just used it to secure a metal footrest on a friend’sbar stool and it held.
