To light Jealous Devil Max briquettes, the recommended method is using a charcoal chimney with firestarters like Jealous Devil Boom! Firestarters or similar wax cubes. Jealous Devil does not recommend using lighter fluid.
After getting the briquettes hot ,is it normal for the coals to break apart so easily when spreading them ?
On Max, this is normal. When Max gets blazing hot and you dumb the chimney, you will have some breakage. This is due to our briquettes, which do not contain fillers or harsh binders. They are 100% all-natural, with 94% quebracho blanco and 6% vegetable starch to hold them together.
When doing a smoke will 15 lbs of this burn as long and get as hot as your lump charcoal.
Hey there! The Max XL Briquets will burn a little quicker than our lump does. This is due to Max being ground up lump and combining vegetable starch.The product will get as hot as the lump, but it will burn up a little quicker! I hope this helps!
