It can, but it won't be easy. Can you enlarge the casing? That may be easier. I recommend you contact a manufactured home parts store to see if they have any 26" doors in stock.

It's cardboard and delicate, I tried and ran out of 'wood'.

no problem adjusting the height of these doors. I recommend wrapping the cutting area with painters tape or similar to keep the cut area from splintering and cut through the taped area. If you cut too much off either end it will loose it's interior end framing (not really a big deal). That may be an inch on either end, I'm not certain.

This is a slab door that comes as 1-3/8 thickness. Thank you for your question.
