What is the recommended interior finishing product?

AnswerIf you are going to stain the interior, we use SW interior stain on our product. Same with the paint, If you are going to leave it a natural finish but want to seal it, there are a number of good sealants you can use on the interior, it is your choice. . Jeld-Wen Customer Service Team

If you are replacing an existing patio door, there is no reason to order the new door with a nail fin unless you want to remove some of the siding to install it. The nail fin is usually ordered on new construction homes to assist with installation. You can order a replacement door as a block frame and install it through the side jambs and avoid removing the siding. It is strictly personal preference of the homeowner. AnswerHello Bill, These doors do have nail fins built in to the extruded aluminum frame. We suggest at least 1/2" to 3/4" rough opening to have enough room to make the door plumb and square. Thank you from Jeld-Wen Customer Service.

Poor Quality of JELD-WEN 72 IN. X 80 IN. W-2500
I would rate the quality and value of the door a zero if possible.
The manufacturing process lacks quality based this door. Nails used to assemble the door were protruding through the trim on the interior of the door. The trim had a gouge and was stained over. The top of the door had holes and was chipped out on the interior trim. Black rather than the oil rub bronze handle.
Jeld-Wen sent a representative that cut off one of the two nails and stained the holes. The other nail can still be seen protruding on the inside of the door. This is their answer to the poor quality. My first review was rejected as a service problem. Good quality does not require a service call.
I will not recommend this product to anyone. I have Jeld-Wen windows in the house and their response to a window issue was very good. The attitude in resolving this issue was that it was not Jel-Wen's problem.

So far we really like this patio door. The blinds work nicely, door slides nice and seems VERY well built. The ONLY issue I have is with the instructions... which were basically go to the website and try and find them. I'm a pretty capable DIY person but this was my first outside/large door project. When I finally found the instructions it was then that I found this manufacture strongly suggests/requires a bottom (separate) sill plate be installed. I had watches other videos on doing this and those did not use/show the installation using a sill plate so I didn't get one before I started the install. Yes, I probably should have looked into this specific brand install instructions before hand. No big deal, probably wouldn't have worked for my situation anyway replacing a door from the 70's that had a frame that was as large or larger than the required rough opening. I have two more to replace on the other end of the house and will most likely use this door again.
