This is a serious caulking gun! It is well made and has options that are not usually offered in the average caulk gun. It is larger than I had expected, but it is still easy to use. I was surprised with how well I could caulk with this gun, it functions so much more smoothly than those cheap caulk guns I am familiar with. It weighs about 3 pounds.
It is ready for 20 oz. sausage packs, but includes accessories to convert it for usage of 10 oz. cartridges or bulk caulk. I just removed the piston cap from the bottom and inserted a cartridge. Included accessories are 3 wide nozzles, 3 narrow nozzles, 1 quick release bulk piston cup, 2 quick release sausage piston cups, and a ladder hook.
I have only used the regular cartridges for now, that is all I have on hand. However, it is nice to have the options for bulk materials also. The attached rod for puncturing the tubes is sturdy and convenient. I never thought I would be impressed with a caulking gun, but this one is well worth the price!

I will comment in my opinion, this tool might be more suitable to a commercial field, than that of a Joe Weekender. It is an excellent product from what I have used and tested around two homes and a concrete patio. Quality built throughout and flexible engineering makes for a good investment. Easy to use, quick to set up and cleaning was simple. I like the 20:1 compression as it is provides more control for me, as I do not have a daily use for it such as a window or gutter installer. Lightweight and breaks down for small footprint storage I highly recommend it for it's flexibility and quality.

This is a great 3 in 1 tool that is a lot easier to use that it appears to be. You can definitely use the standard caulk cartridges that everyone is most familiar with. It loads just as easy as a standard caulking gun. You unscrew the top cap, slip the caulk cartridge in, adjust the rod, and screw the cap back on.
The gun comes by default set up to use the contractor sausage packs. You only need to remove one small cup attachment on the rod to convert it to standard cartridges. No tools are needed to remove this cup.
The included nozzles are only used in conjunction with sausage packs or bulk caulk. There are 6 re-usable nozzles of varying sizes available.
You can also use this for "bulk" caulk. Meaning the caulk comes in a big bucket and not in any sort of container. You basically put on the bulk attachment cup, put the end of the gun into the bucket of caulk, and pull up the plunger. The caulk is drawn into the gun like a syringe. This is messy in any situation.
My one criticism of the product is that the little rod that punctures the seal of caulk cartridges is not long enough. I had a hard time using it.
The 12:1 measurement refer to the force that the gun exerts when you squeeze the trigger. 12:1 would be for every one pound you exert on the trigger, 12 lbs is exerts out of the gun. This would be sufficient for most home use for light-medium duty applications.
