Yes the abbreviation "Sch. 40" means schedule 40
ASTM withdrawn in 2014. Pipe use intent is for sanitary sewer and drain ground water. This pipe is not for pressure applications. Color: Black.
The Uniform Plumbing Code prohibits the induction of wastewater in excess of 140 degrees Fahrenheit without a cooling tank.
yes this should be fine, I do recommend installing below ground to protect it from the damage from the sun. I f this is not possible I suggest painting it white. It would take several years to break it down from sunlight, but it will eventually oxidize, turn grey, and become brittle after years of exposure to direct sunlight, and the heat can cause it to warp.
I suggest you cut the pipe on each side of crack and couple and replace it. you will not be able to properly repair the crack. If your sewer pipe is already buried you can use Fernco couplings which are rubber and will slide back and forth on the pipe untill you tighten the clamps.
The ID is 3" The OD is 3.5 inches ABS and PVC is iron pipe size therefore the nominal pipe size is the interior dimension.CPVC, copper, and PEX are tube size which is a different thing altogether.
