Can you add a saw to this?

AnswersHi Dennis. According to the manufacturer, they do not have a conversion piece to go from lopper to saw. How thick a branch will this cut?

AnswerI suppose it depends on the tree. For my Bauhinia, it is about 3/4". You just cannot get enough leverage beyond that, with the pole extended to 65% . At longer extensions, the pole bends and a quick yank is needed to complete the cut.

Well constructed product with effective blade. 6 lb is just light enough for me to handle pruner at 75% extension, where the pole begins to bend anyway. Length of the cord can be adjusted by wrapping it around the pull-bar.

I suspect those reviewers who have complained about the pruner's weight have never used a telescoping pole pruner before. It is a little on the heavy side but it's certainly manageable and it's much better than cheaper pruners I've used that left me struggling to work a stuck blade loose because the pole flexed so much I couldn't make a clean cut.

Pros: sturdy, good quality pole, does not wobble even at 3/4 extension.very good cutting head and mechanism, fairly easy to use the pull rope to cut. I paid a bit more because after reading reviews of cheaper ones, why bother? Get one that does the job well.

I used my new pruner for the first time this past weekend to trim two crepe myrtles and was very pleased with my purchase. The pulley mechanism worked smoothly and the blade stayed very sharp throughout the project. The telescoping pole worked flawlessly without slipping out of position even once. My only negative comment is that the head is so heavy that operating the tool fully extended can be quite a chore in itself. However, I found that "resting" the pole on a lower limb enabled me to maneuver it without having to support the full weight on my own. No doubt the weight is a result of the "beefy" construction of the components, and will result in a longer work life overall.

Being a do-it-myself home owner, I purchased this after watching professionals using this. This is not a regular in-store stock item, only available through mail order. I gave it a test when I received it a week later. The blade was sharp, and easily cut twigs up to finger size. When fully extended, it reached 14 ft, and the pole became a bit wobbly. Maybe, that is why the manufacturer put a limit to that length. It may not be necessary to reach beyond that length, either.
Alas, there was a backyard fire started from the BBQ grill, and this useful tool was burnt to ash. I am willing to buy another knowing this is a valuable tool.
