Yes, the magnification side is concave. Most all magnified mirrors are concave as this is how the magnification is created.

There are multiple LED's that provide the light for this mirror. Total watt output is about 5 watts and would compare with about 40 watts of incandescent light.

Jerdan wall mounted make up mirror
I purchased on line, mirror shipped in 2-3 days. Was extremmely easy to install. My wife loves the make up mirror. Has magnification and is lighted.

Great Brass Wall Mirror
This is a beautiful brass lighted mirror and the little woman loves it. I wish it was 8X magnification rather then the 5X but it works. We hardwired it rather than using the outlet plug. It adds beauty and class to the bathroom.

It is what I was looking for.
I was looking for a mirror to extend and put on makeup. The light included was an added bonus to obtain the desired application of makeup (it is not intended to be a stand alone light source). I had chrome finish for all my bath hardware, so it blended right in. Before I purchased, I researched to see if it needed a stud to mount from, which it was silent on. I assumed that the screws provided would hold it up on drywall. Upon installation, I noted the weight of the mirror and to continuously extend and retract the am would need to be anchored to a stud for best use. I am afraid that it will not hold over time, so I don't extend the mirror. I would definitely buy this if the space you are putting it in, has a stud to mount it.

love this mirror!
Great mirror. First discovered it in a hotel I was staying and could not live without it! it's the perfect amount of magnification. I found if you have too high a magnification, you have to be way too close to put on your makeup. This amount of magnification allows you to stand at a normal distance and apply or tweeze etc. and you won't miss a thing! I don't use the light option that much, but still like having that feature. Home Depot had ((by far)) the best price. arrived quickly, free shipping. Can't be beat! ;)

I bought and installed (3) of these Jerdon lighted makeup mirror in the past months. Same issue with all three. When I installed the toggle bolts in drywall, and then installed the backing plate, the unit would not tighten up to the wall. The backing plate does not lay flat against the toggle bolts, I had to shim the plate and use extreme pressure on the toggle bolts. The second issue was that the studs on the plate are too long or the dome cap nuts are not threaded deep enough? I had to install small thin washers underneath the dome nuts to complete tightness?
