You will need to water at most once with the cover on. The seedlings will quickly grow too tall to keep the cover on. With the cover off simply monitor the color of the peet.
I think it is dehydrated and compacted peat. Very fun to add water then watch and listen!

Yes, this is why it was designed... Use it as directed for germination of seeds... Each plant type has its own germination time frame so consider that time and getting it into the ground soon after the last freeze and frost in your planning germination cycle

You can reuse it. Clean it before using it again. It is a bit flimsy so you might consider a new one.
