Broken belt on first cut.
After researching for many months; I finally decided to get the John Deere S120. I had it delivered to my house and everything was great with the delivery from Home Depot. I only have a half acre but on my very first mow - the S120 didn't even make it half way through before the belt broke. I'm very disappointed - to say the least - with the belts that John Deere are using. I had read another such story but took the chance anyway. Hopefully the next belt will last longer.

Could have been better
I paid 2245.00 cash for this tractor. The three front grease fittings thats veey visible was greased. The deck spindles were NOT greased. Thats where its really needed. The steering has a lot of play in it. The reverse while mowing button needs to be re thought to be like my 2 cub cadet xt1's. You turn the key and hold in a switch one time. Thats how it should be. I like the mower but i absolutely hate the 30 second oil change mess. As a former Harley Davidson mechanic i can honestly say the engineering dept at jd must have studied at the three stooges university. I wish i would have bought the s100. Again i say i do like the mower and i love the over size tires on the rear... but jd needs to rethink a lot of this particular unit.

Bad shoulder, no problem
Switched from push to riding this year after my shoulder surgery. Never used a rider before and was able to learn on my own and use within the first hour of it delivered. Very easy to learn. Highly recommend if you have 1 acre or less and want to mow in 20 minutes. I look forward to getting the attachments to help my lawn be great. Good job John Deere and Home Depot.

Tractor runs fine (used it once). Purchasing is was another matter. I use Home Depot often but picking this up was not fun. Delayed the first time for several days (it seems no one put it together), delayed again when picking it up (had to wait well over 30 min for a scheduled pick up).

Nothing Runs Like A Deere
I like the power it has, the 30 seconds Oil Change, and was surprised to see that it has a muffler. Although it has more horsepower than my previous one, its quieter. Additionally, it has a tight turning radius of 18 inches. The jury is still out on whether or not I can level the deck. I've made two attempts and it has gotten better each time. I must admit on the second try I forgot to recheck the tire pressures first. The deck leveling tool is a must. One factor regarding a level cut is the contour of your yard. If your yard is uneven, it may be difficult to get a perfectly even cut. However, I am a fan of John Deere. I had one prior to this (an LA115) and kept it for 13 years without any major problems. My previous one was given to a relative.

Highly recommend!
Powerful and reliable! Works great on uneven terrain. The (add-on) trailer shortens my workload by 2/3, and the snow plow add-on will be great for winter snow.
