Answer This Question

A:  As indicated in the header of the listing the burner is sold separately. This listing is just for the tank. Tanks and burners are sold separately because tanks typically last roughly 7 years and burners typically last much longer. Often you will use the same burner over the course of a few tanks. You indicated that your current tanks is extremely old. If so I doubt very much you have a glass lined oil fired hot water heater. Glass lined tanks just do not last that long. If it is that old I would assume you have a tank made of a material other than glass lined steel. For example early in my plumbing career I would periodically run into copper and stoned lined water heaters. Often they were much older than I was. Those material are no longer regularly used due to cost and weight. Mention it because I want you to know that the life expectancy of new oil fired hot water heaters is very short. This coupled with the cost of oil is has reduced their use tremendously over the last couple decades.

        Answer This Question

A:  The answer to your question is 48 7/8". Thank you for asking as it made me aware that some of the documents on Home Depot's web site were out dated. I have the new documents and will have the listing updated. But that may a take a few days to appear. Therefore if you would like a copy of the current manual showing the current information feel free to give me a call and I can email it to you . Thanks Chris 978 651 3301

          Answer This Question

A:  No it would not qualify based on the information you have provided. The energy factor is .62. Further an AFUE of 90% the flue gas would condense into water which would destroy the heater. I am not aware of any oil fired hot water heater with an efficiency that high. Not because it can't be done but because the water produced as a bi-product of combustion, at that efficiency is just so corrosive.
