It is a medium taupe color - not silver or gold - it goes well with my oak (not obtrusive shiny metal)

Do they pop off?

I have not had them pop off and I put a 5' and 4' together (using 2 each with one track cut off) to make a 9' sliding door using 3 - 36" doors. I am making the door guides, yet they still stay on even without the guides.

Has anyone used two of these together for a closet opening of 92 - 96"?

Yes - I've done it. I suppose if the roller gets worn, they're only a couple of bucks. If you do put together (I know this is an old question. On each track, where the ends will meet, just use a metal file to file down the top bump a tiny bit that is built up a little to slow down the roller I assume. Do this before installing. I just put a hanger (roller) on a 2x4 to make sure it smoothly transitioned off the end pieces that will be aligned together.

All you have to do is pick the door straight up about 1/2” and move it away from the track. The rollers sit in the track and are only resessed about 1/4”. I guess you could remove the plastic guide on the floor but you probably won’t have to do that.

47.125" is the length of the track but you do not need it 48" since the wheels are installed 1 1/4" from either end.....

Just pre read the instructions and make sure your door widths are supported and you will have no issues. I needed to replace some 25 year old track because I simply couldn't find rollers/hangers that would fit the existing track. This was an easy install and knowing which hangers to use on which door was easy enough. Just pay attention to this because there are 2 pairs in the kit and which you use on which door (front and back) matters.

These work well. I will warn that they take up a significant about of space on the bottom of the header. This job was framed for traditional double hung 4’0” doors. Had to cut 1 1/4” off the bottom of the doors. Which means they had to be reinforced. Just a heads up. Can be done as an afterthought, but not fun. Product is great though.
