The 36" kit comes with the rail holes pre-drilled, and made to fit the spacing of the hardware you attach to the door. You might be able to make it work, but I think you'd be better off buy a larger 72" kit, which is made to be cut down.
Johnson's high-end weight limit for this set is 40 lbs. If your door set is at or under that weight, then yes, at least theoretically. The issue you may run into is attaching the carrying hardware to the metal. There are holes that have to be drilled into the top and bottom of the door for the pivots to be inserted into, and they appear to have been designed for wood. Unless your doors are metal exterior sheeting over a wooden frame, I don't think you are going to be able to make it work.
Unfortunately, this hardware will not work for 1/2” thick doors. It also does not work with applications using three doors folding in one direction.
Yes. Follow the directions to see which end to cut
The width of the 1700 Track is .919 inches. So it is just over 7/8".
The hardware is available in three colors: aluminum, white, and brown painted steel. At the Home Depot store when I purchased the hardware, only white was in stock. Presumably, aluminum and brown could be ordered.
