Does this laser have a 360 degree horizontal coverage?

Asked by Thar July 16, 2020

Answer

Model 40-0921 does not project a 360° laser. The beam projection angle is approximately 120°.

How well would this work outdoors with a receiver? I have this unit but am thinking of getting a ...

Answer

Model 40-0921 is not compatible with a detector as it does not include a pulse mode feature. Detectors sense the movement of a beam and model 40-0921 has a stationary beam. Typically, a rotary laser with a detector and grade rod would be used for grading projects. You may want to consider the 40-6517 kit. Alternatively, since you already have a tripod from your original kit, you may want to consider purchasing model 40-6516 and purchasing a grade rod separately.

Will this laser light show on glass walls

On page 3, the manual states: "Do not set up laser tool at eye level or operate the the tool near a reflective surface as the laser beam could be projected into your eyes or the eyes of others." In plain English, you should not point the laser at a glass wall or window, because the reflection could damage your eyes, or the eyes of an innocent bystander.

Does this work outside in daylight??? How far away from the tool?

No, inside only, Accurate to within 1/4 in. at 35 ft.

How tall is the tripod and how high does it raise?

Asked by tntc May 26, 2017

Answers

I submitted an answer earlier today (December 26, 2018) which said the tripod was about 37 inches high. That was before I figured out how to crank the center post up. The tripod stands 46.75 inches tall with the legs fully extended and the center post at maximum height.

Does this laser show only on the wall or does it also show on the ceiling for wall layout?

What is the maximum height that this item can be used at?

Asked by Leslie January 21, 2017

Answer

Any height, I just put a piece of particle board on top of milk crates to get it as high as I need it and then use the tripod adjuster to get it perfect.

How thick is the line at 3' , 10' , 15, then 20'?

The line tilts when going into a corner, but it did the job I needed it to do (tiling bathtub/shower.) The laser line has significant parallax when placed off to the side (obviously, standing in front of it makes it useless.) I don’t know how it compares to the expensive, pro levels.

Not a bad little level, not the best quality but for the price pretty good. Biggest disappointment for me is the lack of brightness of the laser, hard to see. Overall I would buy again.

Good value for the $. Did what I needed for my bathtub tile surround project. Would give a higher score if the tripod was sturdier, could raise up higher and I wish the laser had a universal size thread connector to fit any tripod.
