In which country are these clamps manufactured?

Asked by: jm
According to the manufacturer's website, Pony Tools Inc. (founded 1903) is the manufacturer of the Jorgensen Cabinet Master Parallel bar clamps which are made with U.S. and foreign parts in their Chicago, IL factory. (see: http://www.ponytools.com/index.php/jorgensen/bar-clamps). These are very high-quality parallel clamps (I have two 24") at an excellent price. I am buying five 48-inchers tomorrow for my home workshop project making multiple edge glued hardwood bench tops.

Customer Reviews

Jorgensen 48 in. Cabinet Master Bar Clamp is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Bar Clamps I could not imagine using any other bar clamp for furniture making. The clamp has large pads for extra surface contact and the slides and locking mechanism work amazingly smoothly. The large size of the 48” is very helpful for large products. They are extremely strong, operator friendly, and I think well worth the price (you get what you pay for). I currently have two 48” clamps but plan on expanding my collection to other sizes and more 48” clamps. Doug

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clamps - worth the investment Solid, heavy, rugged, strong, amazing grip, ease of use -- all the things my grandpa would say about his best tools as he passed them down to my father and me. These clamps will be around for a while, and I can't wait to find more things to do with them! I started with the 48" even though most my projects will be smaller than that, but I figured it would keep me from having to buy multiple sets. I only bought 2 but will probably pick up an additional pair for larger (longer) projects. I used 2 for my 7' long x 3' wide butcher block style picnic table and they worked good - another pair would have been optimal. But even only the two were strong enough to straighten up some warped pieces in the glue-ups. Great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My preferred clamps I run a custom woodworking shop, and I've tried a lot of different clamps. The Jorgensen clamps are my favorite bar clamps because they are dependable, have a smooth action, and can be cleaned if glue squeeze out gets on the bar. I think I own about 50 of these bar clamps--they are that good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 48" Bar Clamp I would recoment this product because it is very user freindly, non slip, and quality craftsmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't flex - best in class I needed 4 48" clamps and agonized over the decision for about a month between the Jorgensen and the Bessy's. After many trips to my local home stores, the Jorgensen won out. I found it to be a much more sturdier clamp than the Bessy and I was unable to make it flex under load. I saw deflection in the bar when testing out the Bessy. Not with this one. I'm very happy with my choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Clamp for specific clamping needs. This clamp can apply more pressure than the walking clamp style clamps, but over a shorter distance. This type of clamp must be pushed to a fairly tight position and then clamped. After setting the clamp you only get a few inches of clamp movement, so you are not able to pull pieces together, over distance, like a walking clamp. This clamp as a gluing clamp is a better clamp than the walking clamp style, the bar is heavier and can maintain parallel clamping over a greater span, as the jaws are parallel and the bar does not flex as much as the lighter barred clamps. I use all styles of clamps, they all have a purpose and used together will produce good results. That being said I like these clamps very much for what I use them for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent clamps These are high quality bar clamps. I really like the improved handle, much easier to grab. My biggest gripe about these clamps are the price compared to pipe clamps and that glue is not easily removed like pipe clamps. I periodically add to my bar clamp collection however still use a ton of pipe clamps when I have numerous projects to glue up. I also started to use the foam insulation on the bars to prevent glue from ruining them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Jorgensen makes great clamps, The ,36" cabinet master bar clamp, is another Quality clamp. I bought two 36" clamps to go along with the two 24" clamps i already own. I'am not a cabinet maker so i do not use these clamps daily. but when I do use them I'am always impressed with the quality. one look at my clamp rack and it obvious that most of my clamp are jorgenson
