Does the animal (chick) actually have to stand on the pad for it to work? Or does it continuously...

Answer

Hello! Thank you for your question. The K&H Thermo-Peep and Thermo-Chicken heated pads are designed to warm to your bird's normal body temperature when they are on the pad. When your birds are not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. The K&H Thermo-Peep and Thermo-Chicken heated pads will emit heat anytime it is plugged in. The reason the pad always emits heat is so your pet can sense that heat and will be drawn to the pad for warmth and comfort. These products are thermostatically controlled by two internal thermostats. They can be left plugged in 24/7 as long as the product has been installed as per the instructions. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks again!

K&H thermo-chicken heating pad
Started using it straight away, I only have 2 pet hens, one can't balance due to a head injury & sleeps on the floor of the coop. Didn't take her long to realize that if she sat on the pad she'd be nice & cosy. It doesn't become too hot & I feel it's a safe way to raise the temp in the coop when weather is really frigid. Great product.

Good for a small coop
It's what we expected. Allows the bantams to perch next to it and stay warm on those really chilly nights and is very safe.
