About This Product

The K-IT Waterproof Wire Splice will be the first wire connector of its kind. Powered by Melni's Western Splice Technology, the K-IT Wire Splice takes 2 wires per side and twists them together around a conductive axis creating a solid connection between the wires. The housing is filled with dielectric grease to maintain a waterproof environment for the connection to avoid corrosion in wet or damp locations. This is an ideal choice for outdoor low voltage electrical connections exposed to moisture of any kind or dust.

Highlights

  • Indoor/Outdoor applications ( sprinklers, mechanical, outdoor lighting, etc.)
  • Waterproof and corrosion proof
  • 12-24VDC applications ONLY
  • Minimum capacity of 2-4 of #22 wires
  • Maximum capacity of 2-4 of #18 wires

I have a red and black wire which needs to connect to a red and black wire. Is this possible? There are no markings for a line and neutral

      Answer This Question

John.....Thanks for reaching out. No you cannot cross connect and have them work properly. They are a same wire connection. The black wire with the black wire would go into one wire connector and the red and red wire would go into a second connector. All wires that are being connected with the connector should be on the same circuit. If you have further questions please let me know. Thanks for using the K-it products.

Can they be reused and or repacked with grease should the down stream equipment need to be replaced?
        ByNov 20, 2023
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Danny....They cannot be reused as they are intended to be used and to hold the wires. Once wires are inserted and they are twisted together they will not go backwards. If you twist them without wires in them you can go one direction but are not able to turn them backwards. The only thing you could do is to cut the wires and attach a new strand and wire to add the extra equipment that may need to be replaced. We cut them out and put in new K-It wire connector with new wire between the connections when we are replacing them or adding equipment to our lines. anything else please contact us at kjketterlingenterprises@gmail.com

Can this connector be used for connecting trailer electric brake wires?
          ByNov 18, 2023
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Yes you can use them for trailer and brake and electrical brake wires. We have people purchasing them for all types of recreational vehicles, trailers, lights, etc. They are very good because of the tight connection it is water proof and they can put more than 2 wires into the connection if they need wires to split and go other directions like brake and lights. Make sure you strip the wire 1 inch and get it pushed all the way in to make a good connection when they twist. With the braided wire twist it so it goes into the connecrion hole smooth. The twist you want 1 1/2 or two for the braided wire. Please advise if you need anything else kjketterlingenterprises@gmail.com

Customers say the K-IT wire connectors are user-friendly and effective, particularly appreciated for their waterproof feature, making them ideal for outdoor applications. Many users found the installation process straightforward once they understood the importance of aligning the tabs and stripping the wires adequately. However, some customers noted that the instructions could be clearer, and a few experienced challenges with making secure connections initially. Overall, the product is well-received for its innovative design and ease of use, especially for DIY projects.

Great concept for cleaning up the wires
Wire connector works great, just make sure to line the tabs up so you can push the wire all the way in when you twist it. I did not realize how far I needed to strip the wire to make the connection. Now that I have done some. We put them in all of our connections as it is simple.

Connector keeps wires in line and is water proof
Using the connector cleans up the valve box by keeping the wires in line and you know which wire goes to which valve. Advise make sure the triangle points are lined up to put the wires in. The other thing I would tell you is to make sure that it is stripped far enough that you can get inside the connector correctly. I found if it is not pushed in far enough it may not grab correctly as I did on one of them.

most innovative wire connector that has come along in a long time.
Think about the cost to re-do a connection made in the past because of a hard to find short. Do it right the first time with K-it wire connectors. I used it on my outdoor kitchen. The solar connection box. My switch for my 12v fan came loose. No crimping tool needed. All you do is strip each wire ( up to 4 wires ) to be connected and insert. Give it a couple twist on each end, and you are done. No need for shrink tube. This unit has a pocket of Dielectric Grease inside. When you twist the unit, it fills all around the wires and its ready to go. Only improvement I can see is, maybe a sharp edge to strip the wire. That no need to have ANY tools for this job. Built for the sprinkler industry ,as its water proof, it can be used anywhere a 12 to 24 volt wire has to be connected. Solid or stranded wire. Even some of each type wire. I just need some more soon.

                Not Impressed
I had 2 low voltage wires to splice together, an 18 gauge to a 20 gauge. The first K-IT Wire Splice connector I tried to use did not work at all. The second one worked fine. I just don’t see the benefit of this product over a wire nut filled with grease. I feel this connector is overly complicated, and the instructions (included) need to be followed precisely for it to work properly. Nearly anyone can make a connection with a crimped splice or a wire nut. I really can’t see a nominally trained landscape laborer making proper connections with these. The current price point is also very high compared to a wire nut. The engineering is fine, but was this just an attempt to re-invent the wheel?

JazzDad...Sorry to hear of the issue were having with the connections. A couple things that could of caused the issue. The benefit is to keep the wires in line and straight and that they allow you to put more than 2 wires. On the connectors that did not work.
                1. Did you strip the wires 1"
                2. Where the triangle tabs on the connector lined up straight across
                3. Did you push the wires through to the other side, they should be in about 1.25" when fully pushed in.
                Thanks for trying them. K-ItProducts
                I like this inline connector
I have a lot of landscaping lighting, so I'm always looking for good, reliable, easy to use waterproof connector. So far this one fits the bill (I say "so far" becasue I've only had it in place a couple of days - we'll see how it lasts long term, but given the design, I'm optimistic.) Once you figure it out, installation is a snap. Two (to four) wires go into opposite ends of the connector. The grease and where the actual connection occurs is in the central hub. The two endd are then simply twisted to make the connection. My criticism is that the instructions are not clear. One side of the connector rotates free of the central hub, the other is part of the hub. The instructions seem to say that both ends rotate freely - they don't. Once you figure this out though, twisting the wires together is simple and created a good solid connection.

Most of the wires in my low voltage system were the size of standard extension cords (stranded 14 AWG) and did not fit into the holes at the end. I tried striping the full length of sheathing off so the wires would fit, but then the twist-to-tie the four wires together did not work. I gave it a fair rating because they might work with wires that are 18 AWG max that fit the holes with their insulation only removed 1" - but I don't know. I didn't know my wire size while in the store, or I wouldn't have even bought them.

Awesome idea, but it does have some issues. I'm using this on sprinkler valve wires. I went through a few before really understanding how this thing works. Words great with solid wire, not so much with strand wire. If you do not twist them enough, the strand wire will pull back out. If you over twist it, it breaks the wire off. I'm still in the process of figuring out exactly how to use this on strand wire, but I'm going to keep using these. Like I said, this was an awesome idea.

Dwayne..... if you strip the strand wire 1.25 inches and then push the wire into the connector and make sure the wire is twisted so it will seat on the other side of the connector. You can put one in the top hole and one in the bottom hole and then to make sure it twists together. You should only have to twist 3-4 tones to make s connection.
                Thanks KJ K-ItProducts
