A:  Yes they can be hand washed very easily. Our lamp is in a screened room and it worked very nicely for us even with some moisture

    Sturdy, Well Made Nautical Lamp
    This Hatteras Outdoor Gilded Copper Table Lamp takes on the Nautical Theme in my house. This 31" outdoor table lamp is a great size, well made, sturdy and makes its own statement in a room. I would not put this outside in all the elements. I would only put it outside during the summer and would definitely take inside if its going to rain. You can change up the look of this table lamp with the two different cloth shades (white or brown). Its a very sturdy lamp and well worth the money because you can just tell by looking at it, it will last a long time. The pitted glass globe and the cage around it gives it the same look of the onion lamp. I would definitely purchase this lamp, its so beautiful.

    If you think this is good looking on-line...wait until you actually see it. It's beautiful. Granted, it's an outdoor light but since winter is around the corner, I have it in a bedroom for now. It's very heavy and sturdy. I love that it comes with a second shade cover. It's not a 2nd shade, it's a shade cover. Both chocolate brown or the cream shade cover are part of a cool concept. It's actually fabric with elastic on both ends and you pull it over the shade frame...never seen anything like this and what a smart idea. I've included a picture, just so you can see the lamp (even though it's a picture of the lamp indoors vs. outdoors) and the quality is outstanding, as well. I love it!!!

        Burly! But also good looking.
        I intended to use this indoors because it looks so nice, but I accidentally left this outside in the rain, so it got a full weather test. I put a 100W equivalent LED bulb in it, plugged it in (to a GFCI outlet), and turned it on to show my girlfriend. It was sitting low, on a cut-off tree stump, and I forgot about it. It rained all night with heavy wind, and in the morning it was still there, lit up like nothing happened! The bulb was dry, and nothing was worse for wear. Of course it shouldn't be left out like that, but I was impressed. It's big and heavy, and it's constructed entirely of metal and thick glass. No plastic here. The lamp shade is a cloth 'tube' with elastic on both ends. It fits perfectly, doesn't sag, and you can easily take it off and wash it. It comes with two shades, one dark brown for subdued lighting, one white for more light. It is somewhat bottom heavy, and it is definitely not going to fall over in normal use (or get blown over by wind!) The cord is nice and long, it is a bit stiff because it is a round outdoor style cord with ground wire. A heavy glass dome covers the bulb to make it weather resistant. The on/off switch is push on, push off style, and it's covered in rubber. On mine, the switch is not located above the round globe as pictured, but actually up higher next to the bulb. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
