Faucet arrived quickly from Home Depot and installation was easy, but within two weeks the cold side cartridge broke. The handle now rotates past the closed position. After removing the handle and cartridge, I found plastic "shavings" inside the faucet. This is a very cheap cartridge, and looks entirely plastic. The replacement cartridge part number (GP1281300) isn't even carried by Home Depot, it's only available directly from Kohler. The description of the cartridge on Kohler's service parts website states, "Engineered to promote product longevity." Hah! Would not buy again.

This faucet is very lightweight, feels cheap and almost hollow in hand. Levers don't have a firm “stop” when moved on and off. The center spout is very unstable (there is no mechanism to lock it to the vanity top, only the handles have plastic nuts below). The little handle in the back that raises and lowers the drain is all wiggly in use, and is very fiddley to get properly installed. The pop-up drain has a very long tailpiece, so you might have to make some adjustments to your plumbing. And don't misplace the little plastic green tool that removes the aerator, it doesn't just unscrew by hand like many faucets. And the worst offense: the pathetically tiny stream of water you get when the levers are in the “full open” position (blame it on the environmentalists, I guess)—might be by design, because the spout doesn't have a very long “throw” and water splashes on the back of the top when you wash your hands. Photo below shows faucet installed in the top with all guts, and finished remodel. Overall, just feels cheap and flimsy, more like plastic than metal. I like the look of this faucet and it's minimally functional, but definitely not the quality I expect from Kohler. I would have returned it if not for the need to get a remodel finished on deadline.

Tryffid, my name is Jessica with Kohler Customer Service. I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment with your Alteo faucet. We take pride in our designs and are disappointed that your experience has been less than exceptional. The faucet is made up of a premium metal construction. While the faucet is made of a premium metal construction, you should have no concerns in its performance. All Kohler products are manufactured to the same high quality of standards. The faucet is a watersense labeled 1.2-gpm faucet which uses at least 45 percent less water than the standard 2.2-gpm faucets. If you are not getting the 1.2-gpm, please contact our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com. We're happy to help! - Jessica P. KOHLER Customer Service.

      Beautiful fixture
A strikingly good looking fixture. And the higher arch is much superior to the original. Quite easily installed in a modern house with standardized pipes and fixtures. I DIY a fair amount but would not at all claim to be expert at plumbing but this was a fairly straightforward replacement. For the most part, the connects simply screw together. Not much too it. The sink in that bathroom had developed a leak so I replaced it at the same time and, actually, installing the sink took most of the install time. The faucet was the much easier part. Though getting the plumbing putty "just right" with the drain can be a touch tedious. And the "pull up" for the drain can be a bit annoying to adjust as it involves a clip that loves to pop out of your hand and you have to reach around the drain pipes to get to it since, of course, you can't adjust the drain pull until you've installed everything else. Still, overall, not a terribly difficult install. Definitely the look of the fixture makes for a very nice upgrade from the cheap unit the contractor slapped in when building the house. The flow is water saving but not skimpy and the aerator is nicely done. Water doesn't tend to "splash" even when the fixture is turned on full. Highly recommended.

      Gave my sink a facelift!
It took me all of 20 minutes to install this faucet, including the amount of time to remove the old one. It was a very easy install. Everything you need (excluding wrench) is in the box. The faucet has a shinny chrome finish and the water flow is excellent. I love the ease at which you can turn the faucet on and off. Great buy!

      Very classy faucet
When I opened the box, I was surprised at the sleek beauty of this faucet. Its smooth lines and sharp looking handles add class to any bathroom. It is so easy to install, it comes with everything except plumbers putty to install it in any sink as a new sink or just upgrading the old sink. I like the way the stopper handle is hidden in the back of the faucet spout. You have no ugly push type button sticking up between the hot and cold handles. It is an added plus to a bathroom. I used it in a daycare sink and all of my kiddos love it and it is so easy for them to operate and they don't leave the water on like the old faucet set did. They like the stopper because they use to have a screen in the drain, the new stopper plugs the drain hole so no "monsters" can come up the drain. When I installed the stopper, I let it only come up a small bit, just enough to let the water out while the faucet was running. This is a beautiful faucet and it added a touch of class to the sink in the daycare room. The kids love it.
