Is the front panel of this tub reversible? It looks like most of the pics show it as a raised panel and the one pic shows more of a recessed look. If it is not reversible, which one does it come with?
Asked by: Jacey
The "panel" is just a molded design. The HD/Kohler photo is a bit deceiving because it does look like a raised panel. Kohler could do a much better job with their marketing materials. My tub was installed last week - see attached photo. I confirm what another poster said about using concrete. My plumber said must tubs are not installed properly, hence all the issues.

Baffled with the constant creaks in Archer tub

Just had this installed by contractor. It creaks like a drum when we shower, and slightly so when we bathe. On either side it is easy to push it in and out, like plastic, which I suppose is just the deal with acrylic. But the floor is squeaky and loud. Does anybody else have constant creaks and pops when standing to shower in it? Should it be like traditional bathtubs, ie. silent!? Thank you,
Asked by: jcvilla
I would bet that the contractor didn't set the tub in a be of mortar since you are having the creaks. It's a bit time consuming to do but is an important step.

Defective product?

I had a contractor install this tub three years ago. Two days ago, a massive crack showed up at the back of the tub. I've spoken with Kohler's customer service and they've offered to replace the tub (although still out the cost of installation). My concern is that the replacement tub will end up doing the same thing. Has anyone else replaced theirs?
Asked by: Kat
I have had mine for a couple years with no problems. I believe that your contractor did not install your tub properly.

My bathtub leaks water to the basement when its filled and reaches the brass point of drain. what went wrong during installation? and what can I do to fox it?
Asked by: Mariya
I assume you are referencing the overflow drain. When installed the instructions were very clear to use a silicone sealer on the rubber gasket around the drain. If it leaks, I would suspect that someone didin't do that. It is a beautiful tub, and my wife loves it. So sorry for your leak!!!

KOHLER Archer 5 ft. Acrylic Left-Hand Drain Rectangular Alcove Soaking Tub in White is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 313.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tub I am 5'10" and wanted to take good baths. Looked for a deep soaking tub to try to achieve this in a condo space. It is much better than my previous tub squatty little tub. No idea if it was easy to install or not because my contractor did it. The drain so far is holding up. Someone complained about the arm rests - they really aren't meant to be a full arm rest, but it is a spot to rest your elbows. I didn't find any discomfort with the arm rests. The water still doesn't fully cover me, but with a 5' space, you get what you get and the deep soak drain is fabulous. It is still a standard height so you don't have to swing your legs way up and over if you are short. Overall, great tub -wish it was a bit taller to allow for a deeper soak, but in this price range, it is great. It looks very pretty installed as well. The overflow drain is a smidge loud, but nothing too crazy - If it bothers you just tap your foot on the bottom drain to let out enough water that it doesn't flow through the overflow drain anymore. Easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Must Order Special Drain Note - you must order the specialty (and expensive) drain when you order this tub. We ordered this tub in advance of our contractor coming to install it (along with remodeling the rest of our bathroom). The overflow on this tub is not your standard round overflow. It is a long rectangular one. While it is quite striking, it requires a Kohler drain made specially for this tub. The universal drain/overflow that most other tubs use will not fit. The Home Depot website does not prompt you of this fact, and the drain is not stocked in your local Home Depot store. This set us back two days in our bathroom remodel, as our contractor could not begin installing the tile until the tub was installed. We had to get a drain overnighted to us at considerable extra cost. It is a nice tub, but Home Depot has to do a better job of informing you of the specialty pieces that are required with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great bathtub My wife found this tub online here on homedepot.com and we looked at it for quite a while before pulling the trigger. I was worried its style would not fit our ultra modern bath remodel but I was wrong. The tub has very clean lines and works with the rest of the room nicely. Very well constructed: solid with no flexing and slightly angled top edges so that water flows back into the tub. Pop-up drain is simple, looks great and works perfectly. I prefer it to the normal mechanisms that never quite seal right and always seem to leak a little. The overflow looks very nice and adds to the overall appearance of the tub. I don't take many baths but my wife does and she loves how deep it is. If you fill it to the overflow it is seriously deep. Overall it's a truly nice tub. Delivery was timely and problem free. Be sure to order the drain kit at the same time. All of the other positive reviews for this tub are dead on and I agree with them wholeheartedly. Highly recommended.

I purchased this tub for a complete remodel of a home we bought and moved into. We were so excited because the tub looked great. It was installed according to the directions and in a Mortar base. The walls were tiled all the way down to it and it looked fantastic. A week ago it cracked which is 6 months since it has been put in. I started doing my research and found that this tub is prone to cracking. It is a crap shoot if your tub will crack or not. I have spoken to Kohler and they are issuing me a refund, and they did this without even wanting to see pictures, which leads me to believe that this isn't uncommon at all for them and this tub. Unfortunately I am going to have to eat all the tile work and someone to come out and replace the tub and the plumbing is thousands of dollars down the drain. They stood by their warranty to refund the money for the tub (which they said would be to me in 6-8 weeks- ENTIRELY TOO LONG), but in the end my family will have lost thousands of dollars and the inconvenience of not having a bathroom/shower for a few weeks. Although I have always liked Kohler products, I do not recommend this tub stay away from it. Search the internet for cracked Kohler Archer tubs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Tub! We just remodeled two bathrooms in our home and put an Archer 60" x 30" right hand drain soaking tub with Apron in our main floor, small and narrow bathroom. There is info on this site that says this doesn't exist but we have one installed at this very moment so ask around for this if it's what you need. We replaced an old, shallow cast iron tub (that had to be sledge hammered to pieces to be removed) and we are so happy with this choice (it took MONTHS to make our tub decisions!). I finally can take a bath and have water cover my torso while reclining! Our Archer apron has a more recessed look (see photos) vs. the raised detailing of this model so I'm guessing we have an older model (we purchased summer 2015)? But the classic, clean look is a great fit for our home and a good match for the simple Kohler cast iron Bellwether 66" tub we put in our larger 2nd bathroom. There are no arm rests in this model which is a plus given the narrow size. You do need a special overflow part given the cool horizontal design (which also allows a deeper fill) so make sure you order that part as well, for installation! Great tub and so glad we found this model!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy with my purchase I hired a contractor to install this tub. This acrylic tub is so much better than any choice in cast iron you can buy. It's sturdy and will never chip, not to mention, it was so light to carry into the house. I'm a girl and my husband and I had no trouble carrying this in. I have an 11X5 bathroom. We used to have a 30" tub. I was worried that the 32" would be too wide for the room. It wasn't. This tub fit in so nicely. Not too big, and just the right depth. My contractor said he had no issue installing this. The design of the tub will go with so many design options: traditional, transitional, contemporary. Our design for the bathroom was more modern with sleek lines, marble floors, 14" tub tiles, very linear designs. This was a very appropriate tub choice to go with our design. I have already had so many family and friends comment on how nice it looks. I especially love the drain design on this tub too. I would highly recommend this tub to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Looking and light weight I ordered this tub from Home Depot on line and it arrived very quickly. The drain arrived in about 2 days and the tub in about 5 working days. I was pleased with the look and finish. I had removed a 1970's steel tub. Moving the drain over 1 inch to allow for the extra width was not a big deal. I had totally gutted my bathroom down to the subfloor and wall studs. Dry fitting and final fitting the tub is a bit of a challenge and a 2 person job. We used the leveling blocks with mortar also, so it is impossible to slide the tub in the alcove. It has to be lifted and lowered into place. The tub looks great. My wife and I like the way the drain stopper works (clicks on an off with your foot) and for the price it is a very good value. The only reason I gave it it 4 stars is it is a little difficult to get in, especially if one needs to shim the leveling blocks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tub for the price We purchased the Kohler Archer after originally purchasing the Kohler Underscore and having to return it since our contractor was uncomfortable using it in an alcove installation (didn't have an integral tile flange, which the Archer does have). The Archer had the same custom drain piece and was in stock at HD, so we purchased it and hoped for the best. Overall, I'd say I'm quite pleased. It has nice, clean lines and is a huge improvement over the tiny tub we had previously. I was concerned because the description of the tub said that it has a textured bottom, but the texturing is very subtle and not visible to the eye. Despite the slightly sloping edges, I'm still able to place a glass on the edge of the tub, so it passes my "relax in the bath" test. My one complaint is that I think they could have put the slotted drain outlet a good two inches higher. They've put the Kohler logo above the outlet, which cuts down on the depth of the water to overflow height. I can live with it - I put a piece of "Press and Seal" over the outlet when I want a really deep bath and it seals up the overflow entirely so I can get about a 17-18" water level as opposed to 15". Overall, a good tub, but I wish the overflow outlet was a bit higher.
