Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. This Archer bath measures 60" x 32"; I am not familiar with "standard size for condos". Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

can grab bars be added to the surround?

Asked by BJ June 10, 2019

Answers

Yes, but you need to have adequate wood backing behind the panel to anchor the grab bars. The shampoo trays in the photos are also grab bars.

Wouldn't it be better to use the adhesive full coverage by applying it with a notched trowel? Why apply it in circles?

Asked by Sichuan May 4, 2019

Answer

Hi Sichuan, this is Keisha with Kohler Co. I would be happy to answer your question. The benefit of apply adhesive in circular pattern is that it creates a vacuum effect which will provide more area coverage with less product usage. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Answer

Hi Cupcake, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm glad to address your question. This kit includes the K-97618-0 Choreograph walls and 1123-LA-0 bath in White. You could order the bath, K-1123-LA in another color and pair it with the K-97618 walls in any of the following colors: Biscuit, Almond, Dune, Ice Grey, Sandbar, VeinCut Dune, VeinCut Biscut, BeinCut Sandbar, CrossCut Dune, CrossCut Biscuit, Veincut Dune with Dune Accents, Veincut Biscuit with Biscuit Accents or Veincut Sandbar with Sandbar Accents. The bath and walls would then need to be ordered separately and the price will vary. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Hello, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble finding adhesive information for your Kohler shower walls. We're glad to address your question. The Loctite PL Premium 28 fl. oz. Polyurethane Construction Adhesive found on HomeDepot.com would work great. You are correct in that, any standard non-solvent construction adhesive would work. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. Water resistant wall-board is recommended to use behind the Choreograph panels. Please review the Installation Guide for more information; a link is found under the Info & Guides heading. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Can the edges of the tub be cut to accommodate an over all length of 4’10” as opposed to the full 5’?

Not a good idea to cut the edges as there is a lip that ties into the wall. Cutting this off will greatly reduce your ability to keep water out and a poor seal.

I received the Archer 5 ft. left drain tub with Choreograph 72 in. 5-piece bath/shower wall surround in white by Kohler model # K-97618-0-1123-LA-0 for review in a well package box in undamaged condition. I did not install this product myself but had a plumber do the work. I am well pleased with the finished product, it has beautiful clean lines and looks great. When ordering this tub remember the drain and overflow hardware needs to be ordered separately. I would recommend this product for anyone who enjoys quality and comfort and made by Kohler.

So,, we have gotten our tub installed in the ongoing bath/ master bedroom project and it is just super nice. We got this tub and its surround in two deliveries, the tub first so we could get it set in place and the surround later which actually worked out well, It wasn't sitting around in the way getting damaged. The tub itself is sturdy yet light enough to be moved around. We set it into mastic and that adds to the solid feel of it when you step into it. It is a nice deep soaker tub with a comfortable slope to the end so you can really relax in it. It take a special drain kit with a slot instead of a round outlet at the overflow, be sure to order it when selecting the tub. The finish is smooth and should prove to be durable. The lines molded into the exterior of the tub lend the tub wall some stiffness and also evoke a kind of "art deco" flavor to the appearance which in this house is perfect. The surround is a heavy fiberglass reinforced panel and is easily trimmable which we had to do because our ceiling hight was less than 72" above the tub wall hight. This was not a problem. Clamp a straight edge and saw carefully with a fine tooth carbide blade and you are good to go. We used a quick grab construction adhesive to stick the panels to the green board. Getting a panel of approximately 60" x 70" into an alcove was a challenge. you need two strong people and it should be put in place before you install the spout and faucet set, or else remove the faucet hardware, clear the decks because it will be enough of a fight to get it in place without the obstructions in the way. You also need to protect the tub so it doesn't get scratched up when you are setting the panel in place. We used strips of thin plywood temporarily taped in place and it worked well. the end panels were much easier to handle , just measure at least twice for the necessary plumbing holes so you only have to cut once. The appearance of the surround is a soft matte white which is kind of plain but easy to clean and elegant to my view though my wife says she would prefer the marble finish. Next time! to sum up..... This is a high end outfit that is elegant and functional, proceed with care and be sure to get the right overflow drain and you will be happy.

Very deep!! Have a contractor read the online specs!! Depth is calculated from the bottom of the drain, not the top of the tub. Other than that surprise, it's a great tub.

What a difference changing out a tub can make. This tub has high walls and a nice sloped back for soaking. Since it it is standard size install wasn't to bad. The hardest part for me was the wall surround. While I'm sure it should be straight forward my pieces didn't seem to fit. Maybe my walls aren't straight, but the tops didn't line up right. I measured the panels and they are all the same so I'm sure it was installer error. I did instal this and a new shower in the same weekend. This tub also has an interior that was a few inches wider than my old one and it sure makes a big difference. It also has a nice modern look that really knocks your socks off.

This is a beautiful Kohler product! High end company with a nice 5 piece unit. This unit will be delivered in 2 pieces. One will be the shower wall surround and the other box will be the tub itself. This unit was easily installed by a plumber. We wanted a 5 piece unit because we were adding it to our basement so with the multiple pieces this tub could be brought into a house that was already built. This product is nice, crisp, and clean. Be sure to order your drain and overflow hardware separately!

My wife and I run a small property business in western Pennsylvania. We buy, renovate, rent, maintain, and sell homes and multi-family properties. I am the registered and insured PA home improvement contractor of the outfit and head up our small work crew. We have quite a bit of experience in bathroom remodeling. The Kohler Archer acrylic tub is a 32x60x19 in. 58-gallon behemoth soaking tub. To give you a better idea of how big it is, your average steel tub is 30x60, which seems much the same, but has something like 11 inches of actual depth. The Archer has 15-inches. The difference is a water capacity of about 45 gallons for the average tub and 58 gallons for this one. Those two additional inches of width and three inches of depth make a significant difference. This acrylic tub can be installed in two different ways, either by applying construction adhesive to the four feet or by laying the tub in a bed of mortar. I am an old, cynical handyman and take few chances with major installations like this. I recommend the mortar installation. As for the rest of it, it’s pretty standard and the installed acrylic tub will be more than reasonably sturdy. Now, here’s my take on the Choreograph tub surround: the material is about 1/5 in. thick and flexible. The bright-white version gives a very good impression of being made of an all-white honed crystalline stone, like Thassos marble. It is recommended that the surround be installed over a water-resistant backer, like greenboard, purpleboard, Densshield material, or cement board. The thing that really makes the surround stand out would be the addition of the purpose-made accessories like the 9 in. or 14 in. Choreograph Shower Locker, the floating shelves, and the handrails billed as barres. Composite shower surrounds like these are marketed very heavily both by installers and manufacturers. The reasons are very simple: installing a slab stone surround for a tub costs an incredible amount of money in both materials and labor. This mimics the look for much less than a thousand dollars, can be installed by two people in a day, and can be changed out easily if it is ever damaged or begins to discolor, which is a very difficult proposition given how tough the material is. Since slab stone is for most an unthinkable luxury, many people like the idea of tile surrounds. But a large number of people in this country grew up in greenboard-and-mastic tile showers, that is, tile quickly installed with adhesive on “water-resistant” gypsum wallboard that eventually fails spectacularly. Greenboard is no longer allowed by most building codes as a tile backer, but people who grew up taking showers surrounded by rotting tile walls are very often repulsed by tile today, however competently installed. If you’re one of those people, this high-end composite surround is definitely for you. If you can’t stand the idea of regularly cleaning soap scum off grout lines, you’ll be happy with this product as you save up for that ultra-luxury slab stone surround in your next million-dollar bathroom. This would be great for a renovated home or a high-end rental, especially with the Shower Locker incorporated. Getting the same kind of massive storage area in a tiled shower would involve a custom niche. Even finding the right people to build it well would be difficult today.

Excellent, excellent and excellent! I can't say enough good things about this product but then again, Kohler has always been known for providing very good quality products. I can't believe how well protected this tub and wall surround were when I received them. The tub came first and then the shower surround came. Both were on heavy pallets and were well protected in the shipping box. This is not your average wall surround kit. The walls are not made out of cheap, thin plastic or fiberglass. They are appx. 1/4 inch thick. I like the edge and corner trim which eliminates any caulk being visible. The tub is adequately sized. The only reason I wanted this product is because my home has a very small shower and with this tub and wall surround there will be much more room. I can honestly recommend this product to everyone who wants a very nice, high quality tub and wall surround. You will not be wasting your money. As with any product you get what you pay for and this particular product is well worth the expense. I received this product in exchange for an honest review, which I have provided.

This is not your average tub surround. Most tub surrounds I have encountered are just thin sheets of plastic that kind of fit together. This is surround is made of a material Kohler calls Serica. I am not going to pretend I know what it is, but the quality is above and beyond what I expected. The crate that the surround was shipped in required two people and a dolly to move so be prepared for that. It comes with corner and edge trim so no caulk is visible, nice touch. You will also need to buy the overflow and drain kit that goes with this, it is about $90 and really adds to the look. I can't speak as to installation because this went into a new construction home. Overall I am really impressed with this package. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the quality is very nice.
