Answer

Hi Jay, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. Choreograph panels may be cut on site to the size required. We recommend a 7-1/4" circular saw with a masonry blade for the faucet, a jigsaw with a grit blade, and a drill with a hole saw (sizes needed will vary). Please follow the drill size recommendations packed with the grab bars you have selected. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Can the panels be cut ?

Absolutely. Jigsaw with masonry bit. Hole saw with masonry bit. Angle Grinder with masonry cut off disk. Circular saw with masonry blade. All the masonry blades have smooth diamond edges. No blades with teeth! Also cutting creates a ton of super fine dust. You will need a mask if you care.

In all pictures and small sample, it looks like it is a darker grey on a light grey background. It is a light gray background with a taupe (looks like cow-pie brown against the gray) marble print. I HATE brown, and thought I was getting gray. Beware, buyer!

Response from Kohler Product ExpertDecember 13, 2019
Hello, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm very sorry to hear you aren't happy with the color of your Choreograph shower walls. Our CrossCut Dune features a light neutral palette that can flex from warm to cool. It captures the movement and sophistication of soft veining. The elegant grey base provides just the right amount of contrast. The color variation is inspired by the distinguished beauty of the natural stone. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback which we have passed along to our design teams. You can view and order color samples online here: https://pz3.comcom.com/KohlerRetail/litstore/lit_and_color_chip_store.htm. Please email us directly at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com with any questions. Thank you. Sarah S. KOHLER Customer Service

Love the product, but very hard to find and get samples before ordering!!!!!.. I spent a lot of time doing it. You need samples in the stores!!!. Simple system, easily installed to use instead of tile showers. Love it! NO grout! A very big selling point you are completely missing! It is a much better product than any of your other shower samples you have on display in your stores! Why is it such a secret & so hard to find for such a nice product? Shipping arrived in a huge wooden box and so heavy that 2 men with a pick up truck could hardly pick it up at the local store. 150 lbs, but product probably weighed only 25 lbs. (Just a guess, but you get the idea) Disposing of the wood after opening was very difficult too.. There should be a lighter weight, smaller container to safely ship it. Someone should think about that more carefully. 1st time to use this, and will tell you in a year, how it functioned.

(What's this)
Once again, Kohler does not disappoint. The choreograph shower wall kit is a great way to renovate a shower without doing all the messy and time-consuming demolition work of removing old tile. My handyman and I measured (and remeasured, and triple measured!) the space very carefully before cutting the panels down to size. We used a grinder tool with a 4 inch porcelain tile blade to cut the panels down to size. We watched the installation video on the Home Depot product page, and followed the instructions almost exactly. The only slight difference was in installing the panels more gradually. We used silicone (lots and lots of it!) to make circles on the back of the clean panel, slid on the corner edges, and stuck it to the wall. We braced it with 2x4s while it dried. We couldn't get to the side panels until a couple of days later, but followed the same steps. We used a simple hole saw drill bit to cut the necessary circles in the panel where the faucet, spigot and shower head come out of the wall. No more ugly old tile with grout! We still have some finishing touches after installing sliding doors (the panels were easy to drill through to brace the doors), including siliconing around the base and finishing the sides with trim. The trim is necessary because we covered over tile and you can still see the tile under the side edges, but if you put this directly onto drywall, the panels themselves are slightly rounded to meet the wall smoothly, and a trim piece wouldn't be necessary. I love them, and am going to put up more panels in our master bathroom as well. Great product!

(What's this)
I’ve done several bathroom remodels over the years, and invariably I wound up using a shower or tub surround kit consisting of 3 or 4 pieces of thin plastic material and maybe some corner pieces. And even what I thought were high end kits were still thin sheets of plastic. I was given the opportunity to try this Choreograph kit by Kohler, and I will never use anything else in a bathroom remodel. The material is HEAVY, both in the way it’s made and in weight. There’s nothing flimsy about this product, the sheets are approximately ¼” thick. The finish is neither glossy nor pebble grain, it’s a semi-gloss finish that cleans up easily. Be aware, if you’re having a kit like this shipped to you, it is heavy and big. Mine came truck freight on a wooden pallet, measured over 6 ’ by 5’, and weighed 240 pounds. You will need help and it won’t fit in the back of an SUV!

I am doing this review b/c there is not really a lot of info online about it. It was VERY difficult but do-able. I wanted cultured marble walls. Solid, durable, and water proof. But the expense and difficulty of doing that yourself moved me towards this product. These are solid plastic/fiberglass type of material. Not super heavy but have a heavier solid feel than most plastic shower walls. 0. As everyone else has mentioned it comes on a super huge heavy pallet. HAVE IT DELIVERED! It will be another project to break the pallet down. On the plus side it works as a good cutting platform and keep the big pieces of cardboard to use as cutting templates for your walls. 1. You need masonry circular saw and jigsaw blades to cut. Lots of super fine dust. You will want a mask if that concerns you. No teeth allowed on your blades. 2. Cutting these is a bear and super nerve wracking. Make one mistake and you are screwed. This is very hard b/c no shower/bathtub alcove wall and ceiling is square and no floor is level. Even measuring 100 times I didn't get it exactly right. I took it up to ceiling. i will have to use some pvc trim at ceiling to cover some gaps. I also find cutting holes for plumbing super difficult to place correctly. I did this wall last and did a pretty good enough job. I ended up cutting a cardboard template form the shipping pallet and using that. 3. You don't HAVE to use the corner pieces. But they do give you some cutting leeway if you do. I was able to cut close enough to not use the and just silicone the corners closed. 4. I got white. My new kohler tub is gloss white. These panels will not match. They are matte white with a slight texture 5. I installed (glued) to hardiebacker shower cement board rough side and had no problems. 6. I used the liquid nails fuze product. You want a low voc glue or silicone (if going over tile) and leave gaps in the glue pattern so what fumes there are can escape from behind as it dries. If fumes get trapped it may bubble up or come off the wall. 7. I glued one wall at a time and braced with 2 x 4s and drywall pieces for a day to dry. NOTE the pieces are NOT flat especially the big back wall (you could see two big waves in it (kinda shoddy QA on Kohlers part). I was concerned by this a LOT but it turned out it is flexible enough to lay and dry flat with the bracing when I installed. 8. Buy some Heavy Duty Suction Cup Holders Handles that they use to move mirrors and glass. You will thank me!. These panels are heavy and awkward and you don't want to crack any corners or scratch your beautiful new tub. If you don't have these handles maneuvering these panels in your non-square un-level alcove will be almost impossible (especially if you are cutting to exact fit if you are a dummy into self torture like me). Do not put any fixtures in until AFTER the panels are up. Do the fixture panel last! 9. My tub is 32" wide but i got the 36" wide panels. If you cut to 34" wide his gives you a 2" strip to run down in front of the tub (which you should do since most of the water runs out at these corners) Conclusion: Over all I mostly like these panels. From worst to best it probably goes flimsy plastic prefab walls, these walls, tile, solid surface sheets (cultured marble, corian, etc). If you hate these walls for being too sterile or boring and don't look instagram-able/pinterest-y enough for you then spend more and go with fancy tile design. There is not a lot of WOW factor going on here. These are more practical. I just don't prefer tile b/c it is NOT waterproof and eventually rots and falls apart (albeit after a long time for a good job). My opinion is this is a more durable but boring option. BUT looking at it - I don't know for sure but I think if you hated it you could put tile over this using the right mastic. I am not an expert but I think it might work. I hope this helped some with there decision. It is do-able but in no way easy for a medium handy person.

Buyer Beware
There are certified “Kohler Installers” in a few states, but if you buy this kit directly from Home Depot, you’ll need to do it yourself or find a contractor that may not have worked with this material (Luxstone) before. Certified installers will only do the work if you buy the product directly from them (and pay their markup). Product support from both Kohler and Luxstone (the manufacturer) is lame. They will immediately transfer your call to a certified installer, who will refuse to help you with questions if you’re not one of their customers. I tried reaching out to their installers in Oregon and California and both times they refused to get help answering my questions. Anyway, before you hire a contractor be sure that you have read the instructions thoroughly and let them know what your expectations are in terms of materials to be used and steps to be followed. Otherwise, your warranty probably won’t be valid. I finally found someone to do the work, and with much coaching and outright insistence the wall is up and I’m pleased with the work. Just wish I had known ahead of time that there wouldn’t be any product support available. Kohler and Luxstone need to do better. They should either take these off the shelf at places like Hone Depot, or provide real product support.
