Is it hard to replace the flushing mechanism
Charlie, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I am glad to address your question. The entire canister valve can be replaced by first removing the tank from the bowl and then accessing the nut on the underside of the tank. If you are just needing to replace the canister seal due to a leak, this can be done rather simply, without removing the tank from the bowl.
