The Elmbrook pedestal has an open back to help hide plumbing but it does have have material at the base as that is how the base mounts to the floor. Great sink for a tight space

We needed a narrow sink (less than 19 inches in width) for our small powder room. This sink looks great and works perfectly for our space. Sink is wide enough where I have zero concerns about water splashing out.

I replaced an old pedestal sink with this Kohler model. It is tall, which we preferred, and has clean lines. It looks fantastic. My only complaint is the difficulty I experienced during install. I would assume this is common to all pedestal sinks, but attaching the plumbing is very difficult once the base is in place. I followed the directions that accompanied the sink and still had issues. The problem is, you can't see the plumbing once everything is in place and ready for hook-up. I resorted to using my phone in selfie mode to make sure everything was done correctly. Otherwise, you have to do it by touch.

Pedestal and sinks packed securely in separate boxes. Instructions are straightforward and well written, but I watched a couple of YouTube videos "just to be sure" I wasn't missing anything. Pre-installing the (Moen Darcy) widespread faucet took the most time, but was also easy. Aesthetics are a personal choice, but I like the "contemporary classic" look of this sink - clean lines, few and subtle curves.
