Questions & Answers

How many gallons is the flush when you hold the handle down for solid waste flush

Asked by Scotty February 21, 2021

Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. The trip lever is intended to be pressed and released for 1.28 gpf. We do not test how much water is released when the handle is held down. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Is there a brushed gold trip lever that I can get for this HIghline Arc toilet? If so, can I have...

Asked by Stephanie February 18, 2021

Yes, I am sure you can find a flush handle that you want. Perform an Internet search and find the flush handle that you like. Most will come with all the parts required to make the new flush handle operate. The handle is only to make the valve stack turn water on and at the same time lift the flapper at the bottom of the tank to evacuate the bowl. Get a good quality handle, it is used often and often misused.

Wax Ring

Asked by 4xbros February 12, 2021

I always buy the thick wax ring with the black funnel, which makes better sense it makes a better fit and also aligned the center of the toilet.

What country is it manufactured in?

Asked by Brian February 10, 2021

Hello Brian, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am glad to address your question. As a global company, Kohler Co. operates manufacturing plants on five continents. Almost all products have multiple parts and each part has the ability to come from a different facility or vendor from around the world. All products are manufactured to the same high quality standards, regardless of the location of the facility where it is created. You will find the country of origin of each product stamped on the packing box. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

What is the difference between the Highline Arc and the Highline Curve?

Asked by Rcpilot February 7, 2021

The toilet looks great and flushes with minimal water and my Toto bidet fits perfectly and the height is fantastic.

My project is happening in a month. Can I stack 2 of these on top of each other while they are st...

Asked by JerryUSA February 4, 2021

I have seen them stacked in the store, so there should not be a problem with that. I would be concerned about the top one getting bumped, tipping over, and falling. So if you choose to stack, I suggest doing so in a corner so there is some protection against tipping.

What is the width of the base of this toilet?

Asked by Scott February 1, 2021

Hi Scott, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I'm glad to answer your question. The footprint on this toilet bowl is 10" wide at its widest point. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

How much clearance is needed in order to be able to remove the tank lid? I have a shelf above my ...

Asked by Replacement January 29, 2021

Clearance to remove the top is only a couple of inches. The concern would be future repairs to the internals of the tank. Do you have enough clearance to allow for that? If not, any future repairs will require pulling the toilet, or at least the tank to do those repairs.

Can this type of toilet be installed in a high rise condo?

Asked by JA January 26, 2021

Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. Yes; this toilet may be installed in a high-rise condo. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Good Toilet but the first was defective
My first two reviews were rejected by Home Depot because of something vital that I mentioned in regards to this toilet. I will just say it this way then, The first toilet that I purchased was defective so I had to return it for another one. My wife and I chose this Kholer Toilet because of the look and of course because of the brand name. I had to go back to home depot, wait for the customer service rep to grab a forklift to bring some down more stock from the top shelf, and finally check out and then go home. This was a waste of 1hr for me due to quality control. The other issue I have is that the toilet seat that it comes with is cheap plastic. Kholer should just not include the cheap plastic seat and let the homeowner decide if they want the plastic or the upgraded toilet seat. Please stop ripping your customers off and causing waste in our world. I thought the trend in our world was to be green and not wasteful? I had to buy a solid toilet seat amd throw the cheap one away.

water level in bowl
I recently bought two toilets and replaced my old ones. Toilet is good with size and height. only one problem I run into was toilet bowl water was too low. adjusted lot of stuff still the same. Found out interesting problem with small pipe. I am attaching the picture, if someone has the similar problem you can can benefit. you can see in picture the pipe came with Kohler tilted 90 degree and choked the water. I replaced the pipe with the another pipe from my old toilet. fixed the problem.

Happy with the toilets but wish there were instructions related to the flow regulator in the fill valve
I just installed 2 of these toilets and overall they have been great so far. When installing the first one I noticed that the tank filled very slowly (like 7 minutes) after flushing and the bowl barely had any water in it. If I turned up the main water valve to the toilet, the fill valve would stop filling and make a loud howling sound. After about 2.5 hours of troubleshooting I discovered on the Fluidmaster website that there is a rubber flow regulator in the bottom of the fill valve that you can simply remove with needle nose pliers. Maybe this is common knowledge to some but it wasn't to me. Had there been a simple note and/or diagram about this in the instructions it would've saved me a lot of time and frustration. Also, on this flow regulator in the picture there wasn't a plastic piece on the end like there was on the other toilet, maybe that's why it stopped filling when the water pressure was increased. I assume this plastic piece keeps the regulator from pushing into and blocking the fill valve pipe. Either way, I removed both and the toilets work great! One area that could use improvement are the 3 screws/rubber gaskets that attach the tank to the base, these seem like future leak points and took a little coddling to make sure they didn't leak during installation.

I'm very pleased with this toilet!! Its the perfect height, not too high, not too low. The height of my last toilet was too high!! I purchased online and picked up in store. It also comes with a slow close seat. It has a nice sleek look in my bathroom.

where is the quality control?
Purchased this toilet and do like it very much, however after unpacking I noticed a chip on the underside. That area was glazed like the rest, so that chip was created during manufacture. I did not see any other issues that would cause problems, so I did install the unit. Works just fine and looks good, but I question the quality control. Not American craftsmanship.

You can hear this thing GURGLE AND PLOP PLOP PLOP each time you flush it. I bought two of them and they both sound the same and are incredibly loud-sounding when you flush them. Also, I had to buy FIVE OF THESE before I got TWO of them that didn't leak and would sit flat on the floor and not rock. None of these things were installation issues. I finally got two that sit flat and don't leak. The quality control of this toilet needs some serious review by KOHLER. I even tried different production dates in my choices to see if that would make a difference. And say Made in Mexico. Not the quality that the KOHLER name used to be at all, nor Mexico. I wish I could add a video on here so you could hear how LOUD they are when then flush. Like the box says- they PLUGE THE WATER DOWN very well. What they don't say it comes with THE SOUND AS WELL OF A CLOGGED TOILET BEING PLUNGED EVERY TIME YOU FLUSH THEM. Not so nice.

Response from Kohler Product ExpertJul 21, 2020
Hi LoudSounding, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm very sorry to hear your Highline toilets are flushing with too much noise. When flushed, a toilet with a canister flush valve will be just perceivably louder than a toilet equipped with a flapper flush valve. However, the tradeoff is that toilets with a canister flush valve will have better performance including greater water efficiency. A canister flush valve is quieter than an assisted flush, featured in many commercial toilets. If both toilets are making a gurgling noise, we would suggest checking the rim feed tube and water level within the tank. The water level should be at the "water line" marked on either the back wall (inside) the tank or on the canister itself. The rim feed tube should be connected at both ends; connecting the fill valve to the flush valve. If either end is disconnected, it can be pushed back into place. This is my 2nd. My 1st was leaking every time it was flushed, took it apart to find a crack under the base. My 2nd now is leaking but it’s sporadic. Now I will have to change this for the 3rd time since moving into my home 6 months ago. Not sure I will be replacing with another kohler, seems like more trouble than it’s worth
