Questions & Answers

What width do I need on my shower curb to accommodate the doors? Not the 59-5/8", but the smaller width from front to back? About 2"?z

Asked by: DustinS
At least 2.5 inches

door to wall gap allows spray outside shower.

When the doors are closed, there is about a one half inch gap from the door to the wall. This allows spray from the hand held wand to pass outside. The problem is not door width. It is the rubber bumper around the upper track end, which holds the door away from the shower wall by about half an inch. The leakage is worse on the inner door because the door is separated from the front track by about 2 inches. What can be done to narrow this gap? I've seen some displays where a clear neoprene gasket fits over the door edge and extends to the wall when the door is against the bumper. This is a continuation of a previous question. I could not find a way to amend a question or ask for clarification of a previous answer.
Asked by: paul
It is designed with quarter inch gap and a 3/4 inch outside bar. I could reduce the door gap by trimming the upper bumper if I need to. If you have a half inch gap you need to adjust the rollers to level the edge of the door with your shower wall

Do both doors slide on this model?

Asked by: LizDarts
yes, both doors slide the entirety of the track. For example, you can slide both doors all the way to the left or both doors all the way to the right. You can select your configuration (ie. will the outer door position be to the left or right)

How do I narrow the gap between the wall and closed doors?

When the doors are closed, there is about a one half inch gap from the door to the wall. This allows spray from the hand held wand to pass outside. What can be done to narrow this gap? I've seen a u-shaped neoprene gasket that fits over the door edge.
Asked by: paul
Make sure your door is level / square with the shower wall by adjusting one of the door rollers up or down. Then I would use a file or dremmel tool to reduce the thickness of the upper bumper.

Levity 59 in. x 74 in. Frameless Sliding Shower Door in Silver finish with Handle is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from My contractor noticed what appeared to be an inch long... My contractor noticed what appeared to be an inch long black smudge at the top center of the inner door. Attempts to remove the smudge were not successful and we realized that the glass finish was damaged. Had this not been located in such a visible place, I probably would have kept the door. I contacted Home Depot customer service and a very helpful man called Kohler . Kohler would replace the door but it would be a two week wait plus shipping time. Since my one bathroom had already been out of commission since the end of June, I opted to place an order to replace the both doors ( here's hoping that they are not damaged ) and have my contractor return both the damaged and undamaged doors to Home Depot. I want to note that Home Depot did its best to help and offered a credit for the inconvenience . I have no idea how often Kohler doors have this issue but am disappointed about this glass defect. Otherwise the doors look very modern and clean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kohler Levity I love the contemporary look of this door but the installation took two days and a LOT of patience to adjust the front door rollers and clips to allow the door to roll smoothly. Still not as smooth as the back door which has no clips. After ONE week, the clips slipped out of alignment and the door stopped sliding completely. There is no bracket to keep them from loosening and then spinning sideways. Kohler customer support's solution consisted of advising us to review installation instructions. As another reviewer here stated previously, the clip - wheel assembly needs to be re-designed. I wish I had paid more attention to that comment before buying this door.

Take some time and lay out all the parts and make sure you understand where everything goes and how all the pieces work together before you start drilling holes. Make sure your walls are plumb! Or very close to being plumb. My curb or ledge is barely over 2.5 inches and thankfully this door sits perfectly on that space. Both doors slide the entire length of the track. This was important for me due to the setup of my bathroom and it took a lot of research to find this info. Overall the door looks very upscale - the glass is nice. The metal parts and finishes are not top, top quality but better than average. I'd say the whole thing is between mid and high quality. It took my Father and I about 4 hours to install - though the first hour was simply unpacking and organizing parts. If I had to install another one of these doors it would probably take 90 minutes now that I know what I'm doing. Instructions can definitely be improved but should not be too difficult for a regular do-it-yourself guy like myself. If your contractor cannot figure out how to install this door then I would suggest you probably need to find yourself a new contractor. I only mention that because I read several reviews stating the contractor would not install door due to the complexity. Again, it's not that complicated once you understand the lay of the land. Do your research, read the specs, understand your own space and you will be fine. Lastly, I will mention that I took an extra step of securing the the center guide (bottom rail guide) piece with a screw. The instructions say to simply use silicon but this seemed too weak to us once we started mounting the doors, so we went ahead and drove one screw in the center guide piece for extra support. Obviously make sure you silicon the perimeter to prevent leakage. There is no gap (or very tiny gap) between the bottom door and the shower curb if installed correctly. Hope this helps - overall its a great door for the price. You can't beat the looks and the doors slide like a dream.
