Questions & Answers

Could I use a shower with this? Would the water run into the tub or would the edges direct water off the edge?

Want a tub that fits two that can work in an alcove with a shower
Asked by: Bath1
There is a slight slope towards the center on all the "flat" surfaces. However, the "flange" mentioned is not part of the tub itself, it is just a little plastic extrusion that is pop-riveted around 3 edges with a little bit of glue to help it. If you can seal the flange sufficiently it should be ok for a shower.

is the drain for this tub center front or center. the picture does not show drain location!

Asked by: Staci
The drain is center front. In the picture you can see just the edge of the overflow and the drain is under that.

does this tub have holes for a faucet?

the picture shows no faucet mount but the specs list one? which is it?
Asked by: nofaucet
No, you have to cut the holes for the faucet. Be careful with that as well, because there are stiffeners in the corners that could interfere.

Heater?

A heater is listed as included with this tub. Since all I have ever dealt with are regular, old school tubs, I am puzzled by this and have always felt there are no stupid questions, so here goes. Does this mean I will need an electrical source for the heater? I would assume so, but want to prep my electrician if I decide to go with this tub as this was not in our original plan. I would rather have a tub with no electricity to it as I see it as less maintenance.
Asked by: chirmer
I bought on of these and it had no heater with it. Not sure where that information came from.

Customer Reviews

ProFlex 6 ft. Center Drain Alcove with Tile Flange Bathtub in White is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Know what you are getting! I have seen other reviews the complain of certain features or lack thereof, so here is a rundown: 1) the overall dimensions are 42"x72". The inside is not this large. Check out the mockup before purchase. 2) Without flange this tub is for a drop-in installation. With flange, it is for a 3-wall alcove. Install the tub onto wall framing BEFORE finishing the walls will greenboard or Har-D-Backer. If installing in a corner, you will need to create a 24" tall stub wall (or complete wall) for the 3rd side. 3) if installing in an alcove, purchase the skirt for this tub (not available from Home Depot) or create a custom framed skirt using 1x2 lumber. 2x4 lumber will not fit under the lip without hitting the tub structure. 4) the tub is not drilled for faucets. The drain is predrilled and is located on the skirt side. 5) if installing in a basement, set it on 6" framing to make room for the P-trap.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am SO disappointed with this tub. I don't think I will buy Kohler again. Most alcove style tubs... I am SO disappointed with this tub. I don't think I will buy Kohler again. Most alcove style tubs have a flange around 3 sides that is part of the tub itself. In this case, it's not even an alcove tub, it's a garden tub that has this cheesy little plastic extrusion pop-riveted and "glued" around 3 sides. For a garden tub, it would be quite nice, but for my purposes it is quite sad. The only dimension I could find in the spec. sheet said the opening should be 72 1/2". Don't do it. I built my alcove exactly 72 1/2" and then had to fir the studs out 5/8". I really expected more from Kohler.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3rd Kohler Soaking Tub Purchased This is the 3rd Kohler soaking tub we have purchased over the years. When we move we inevitably remodel the bathroom and we love the 2 person tubs, for us the soaks are a bit of spoiling luxury. We like this size the "basin" measurement (its listed on one of the PDF'S Home Depot has on the page for download) tells you what the bottom floor of the tub will measure, in terms of soaking tubs we have found this a good 2 person size. The cost is inline and I have no complaints about the cost, some of the other soaking tubs I think are ridiculously priced, but this one, I feel, is fairly prices. I will admit I do have 2 complaints. THE FLANGE IS HORRIBLE, we were not happy with the flange at all and had we seen it before we would not have ordered the tub with the flange we simply would have bought some tub liner material and done it ourselves, Although the flange is hidden after the alcove construction is complete, I will forever know the color did not match and and that was just cheap on Kohlers part. The only other thing that I think could have been improved were the feet, Kohler has changed the feet (underside supports) over the years and I dont think it was an improvement over the Portrait we purchased a few years ago, but that is really just an opinion. Overall we are VERY HAPPY with the tub, its price and its quality and its size and its design. Oh and if your installing one just before you close it in, wrap the underneath body in insulation, your tub water will retain the heat much longer.
