We inspected the tub before hauling it in, no problems were seen. After we got it in place I pulled back the plastic protector from the right side and the enamel came with it. There was no marks on the plastic and we were very careful on hauling it in. The enamel pealed off about 4 inches back. So we got to haul the heavy thing out and returned it. No to fun of a day.

Heavy duty and beautiful tub
This tub replaced a builder's steel tub when we remodeled because we wanted to have a tub that would last. This tub was over 300 lbs and we were amazed how the contractors attached it to a dolly and brought it up to the 2nd floor. The tub itself looks nice. The surface texture being a little bumpy doesn't bother me. The main issue was finding an appropriate tub door since the tub has a narrow part of the ledge that has a 2-1/2" threshold minimum for a tub door. The best tub door we found is one that has an L shaped rail that rests on the ledge. It is a semi-frameless bypass tub door because we wanted both doors to be able to slide. Be sure to keep the non-slip surface clean as dirt from dirty feet will stick to it.

    Great cast iron tub
We recently remodeled the bathroom in our 1958 house that still contained the original cast iron tub in the bathroom. I chose to replace it with another cast iron because I like the stability of the cast iron, it's longer lasting and I absolutely hate squeaking/noises of a plastic or acrylic tub. May make it a pain to every replace but in sixty years it shouldn't be an issue for me! I will say that the cost for the tub for the quality was excellent, it was on part with acyrlic tubs and we would have ordered slightly large but the cost was prohibitive for adding just two inches. One note is that the tub is so heavy it would have been impossible to move alone. It also helps that there was no vanity or toilet in the way when we installed. Recommend this but definitely if possible inspect the tub for enamel chips/dents/etc. since returning will be so difficult.

      Buyer Beware
After purchasing tub and going to install it I noticed lack of porcelain around drain hole. Returned to Home Depot and had to go to 4 more stores to find one that looked good around drain. Purchased tub and started to install in vacant rental property. Had heart attack and didn’t work on it for months. When I returned the tub overflow area had rust. Tried to clean but stained. Called Kohler about warranty. That was a joke. They wanted to know if I stored it outside. (No) Then they said cast iron doesn’t rust. Looks like rust to me. (Ever see rusty cast iron pan? I have) then they said I didn’t install it correctly. (I should have used silicone around overflow hole when installing) I haven’t finished installing it yet because of the rust. They have all the excuses to not warranty it. Very Disappointed at this time because I have had great Kohler cast iron tubs from them in the past.

We just put it on our bathroom and we saw it came with a scratch near drain area. It's going to be a headache to take it out. Is there anyway to repair the area? It's already getting rusty.

          RUST HOLE AFTER 19 MONTHS!!
BUYER BEWARE!!! I would seriously reconsider purchasing any Kohler product ever again. There is a rust hole in this cast iron tub I purchased and installed after less than two years of use. The Kohler rep is telling me cast iron doesn’t rust. Are you kidding me?!? Obviously there is a manufactur defect in the finish causing this to happen.

            The Veneer Is Coming Off
We are very disappointed in this new bathtub. We had it installed, and after five days the white veneer is coming off. The whole tub is turning grey. We are upset because it cost us a lot to have it installed and now it is ruining our whole bathroom.

              Excellent quality
This tub is solid cast iron very sturdy with plenty of space to soak in the tub. The tub is a very beautiful white with a shine. The the bottom of the tub grips, so you don't slip. So glad I decided on this bathtub. Happy customer.

                Great tub, solid.
It’s solid. Will stand the test of time for sure. Not enough water to cover your member, but glad we purchased this tub while it was still $650 and not $999... took it up a flight of stairs with three guys. Not bad.

Tub is sturdy- took four guys and an appliance dolly to get it up 2 flights of stairs. My friend sharing how her steel tub cracked made me happy to have cast iron. Haven’t used it yet but looks nice. Original tub from HD had rust on back side and Kohler name was smudged so I’m glad I thoroughly inspected it before hauling it home. Luckily they had a second one that had no defects which the workers were happy to pull off of the top of a 20 foot stack.
