This is an EXCELLENT choice for a kitchen sink
We wanted a black under the countertop mount sink and we didn't have much room, this sink fits the bill perfectly. It was the only black sink I could find online that would work and there wouldn't have been one better than this one. The contractor doing the countertops had gotten epoxy all over this sink and it washed right out even after it was dried on! I was impressed that it came out so easily off of this finish. I used a razor blade to chip the dried on epoxy off and never put one scratch on the surface. That in itself is amazing!

orange peel texture
I read many reviews that mentioned a lumpy, orange-peel like texture and thought to myself “they’re probably just unlucky and received defects.” Nope. I think the demand is too high and it looks like kohler is pumping these things out without waiting for the coating to completely dry. I tried to take a look before leaving the store but its packaged so tightly and its so heavy that I couldnt check it by myself. I read from other reviews that this is the look, theyre never smooth. FALSE. My friend has a kohler farm sink and hers has very minimal texture, yes some texture but not lumpy like mine. Also, this high priced item doesnt get trackable shipping so if youre on a strict timeline like I was dont depend on it arriving on time or being able to track it.

Due to the nature of enameled cast iron, there is a measure of rippling or waviness to vertical walls as gravity pulls the enamel down during melting in the furnace. Horizontal surfaces melt smooth. We loved the look of the sink and designed the kitchen around the sink. BIG MISTAKE
Our house finish getting built and we moved into our new home. 3 months in we started seeing brown stains on the sink. The stains seem to get worse and worse and we started to see more and more of them. Finally, 8 months into living in our home I contacted Kohler to find out what we could do. They suggested we clean the sink with heavy duty rust removers and that we do not leave anything in the sink more then a couple of hours. Also after using the sink dry it off.
OK, so now I know how to clean the sink and it removed 90% of the brown stains. I told them that this could not be normal and that I was censored what my sink would look like after 5 years. There had to be something that could be applied to seal the sink. They said no, I spoke to 3 different people and they all gave me about the same speech.
While the sink is a nice sink its not worth it, I have never had any other sink that caused problems like these.
