Hi Julie, Thanks for reaching out to us. Please feel free to reach out to us at 800-775-0703 or via email at customerservice@kraususa.com with any additional questions. Thank you for reaching out.

How do you secure to the cabinet? Is it just the plumbing connections and weight of the countertop that holds it in place? Literature doesnt mention

Answer

Hi BagonHead, Thanks for your inquiry. Below are some by step by step instructions on how to approach a Farmhouse installation: Please Note: The step-by-step guideline below is a general reference for installing the Kraus Farmhouse Sink. Please keep in mind that this is a custom installation. Kraus cannot be liable should there be any discrepancies with your installation. Kraus recommends installing all Kraus products by hiring a licensed, professional plumber. Step 1: Measures for Supports Measure the "true" height of the sink, from where the top aligns with the countertop surface to the bottom of the sink’s sides, which will rest on the supports. Transfer this measurement to the interior cabinet sides and mark a level line from back to front. This is where the supports will be added to carry the weight of the sink. Step 2: Install the Supports On each cabinet side, install 2" x 4' supports. Position the tops of the supports so that they are even with the level lines. Use construction adhesive and 1-5/8" square-drive deck screws to attach the supports. First, apply the adhesive then clamp the supports firmly in place, then drive the screws through the cabinet sides into each support. Step 3: Cut the Cabinet Front Measure the height of the sink front, and add 1/8” to this dimension when you mark the base cabinet front cutout. This allows the sink to rest just above the cut edge, without being supported by it. Depending on your base cabinet, it may be necessary to remove the doors and replace them with smaller doors. Use a jig saw to cut out the sink-front opening. Step 4: Install the Sink Test-fit the sink in the opening. The entire weight of the sink should be carried by the side supports. Check that the sink is level from side to side and front to back. If necessary, add tapered wood shims to adjust. Install the sink and use silicone caulk to fill in the gaps below the sink front, and between the sink and countertop.

Can you add a garbage disposal to this sink?

Yes. I have had this combo for 4 years and love it.

Can I use my current garbage disposable with this sink?

Asked by Remodeler January 5, 2021

Answer

Yes, garbage disposals are 100% compatible with our sinks. Rather than install a disposal to the drain, the disposal will replace the drain as it has its own flange and mounts directly to the sink.

Can this sink be used as a top mount or flush mount to a laminate/arcylic counter top

Asked by Nana December 30, 2020

Answer

Hi Nana, Our Farmhouse sinks are best suited for solid surfaces countertop materials like marble concrete, soapstone and granite. Not well suited for laminate or tile counters which have too many weak points along seams and grout lines to support the weight of the sink. Please feel free to reach out to us at 800-775-0703 or via email at customerservice@kraususa.com with any additional questions. Happy to assist.

Is this fingerprint resistant?

Asked by Sarah December 20, 2020

Answers

Yes it is. The top edges show water spots and I’m constantly drying them off, but fingerprints don’t show. I love the sink. I highly recommend it.

The directions say to add 1/16 inch to the dimensions of the apron. Does that mean the top of the sink will be 1/16 inch below the coutertop?

Asked by BagonHead December 19, 2020

Answers

Mine is installed below the countertop. I think the extra is for wiggle room to get it in the hole. We installed three years ago and have loved it. Angles in corners are very tight. I wish it had more curve for cleaning purposes.

Wonderful Product for a great price
This is an excellent sink bundle for the price. It looks great, cleans easy, and was everything we were looking for. The sink is very comfortable to use, I love the faucet settings. The faucet is excellent, buttons are easy to use and don't stick. I've had this sink for 5 years now and, haven't had a single issue. My ONLY criticism is the ease which the front stainless scratches, but that's really not a surprise. I wish I had known and been a little more careful. Highly recommend, would buy again.

LOVE this sink and now buying another one for our new home remodel. We bought one about 7yrs ago. This is the most functional sink ever, you can wash the biggest roasting pan easily., full size cookie sheets. I was able to wash my gas range top grates easily, it's awesome and great looking. The depth is great for loading up with dishes, and clearing your counter to prep for dishwasher. I cook large meals and this sink was great for soaking vegetables, washing large stainless bowls. I love the ease of cleaning it, I only used dish soap and sprayed with 2oz bleach to 32oz water spray to disinfect. The rack is not only a great look but it also protects the bottom of your sink. The top of the apron and front stayed beautiful without worrying about being careful of scratches - just use it!

stunning, eye catching easily scratched
We bought this sink for our fixer upper! I fell inlove with this sink after reading multiple reviews I decided to believe in the company and take the chance! We went ahead and undermounted and did concrete countertops! I have not yet used it, i have been very VERY careful with it and it is already scratched just by wiling it due to dust flying atound in my house(construction). I had also waited because I planned to get my faucet from kraus (commercial style one) but i am just dissapointed now with the sink. I was been so careful with it and it is scratched so easily. I watched it scratched with just small, i mean teenie dirt particles. I hate to say this but I dont know if i would reccomend this sink. I would have gotten my money back if i hadnt undermounted it. :( KRAUS WHY???

Response from KrausSep 13, 2017
Hi CynthiaMedina,

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your review and feedback. We're glad to hear you like the look of our sinks and are sorry to hear that you have experienced some scratching with this kitchen sink. Scratches are inevitable in any sink material, including stainless steel. Overtime, these scratches will become uniform with the sink's grain and blend into the overall finish of your sink with proper cleaning. Most minor scratches can be softened with a fine (white) 3M Scotch Brite pad, or 3M Scotch Brite Natural Fiber Non-Scratch Scour Pad, accompanied by a deep cleansing agent such as Bar Keepers Friend. We do not recommend the use of steel wool, wire brushes or abrasive sponge pads. Use only non-scratch cleaning pads. However, if you do not find that this resolves your issue entirely, please contact our customer service department directly at 1-800-775-0703 or email me directly at customerservice@kraususa.com and refer to case number 116610 so I can look into this personally.

Thanks again for reaching out and sharing your experience.

Best,
Mike

Just rec'd,Sink/fct look high end, parts of faucet are cheap plastic, I can't get metal for over $600? Also, a plastic strainer? Seriously?? I install at least stainless or brushed nickel strainers, at the minimum. Frustrating that corners cut to save a few cents, using plastic rather than metal.
