I don't own this sink yet but I had the same question. In my case, I will have to have plumber come in to lower the drain line plumbing for our sink. The outlet on the garbage disposal is only 2-1/2" above the horizontal run of the existing drain line. I currently have a 6" deep sink so this sink will drop that GD outlet by 4" and force dropping that horizontal run by at least 2 inches, otherwise our drain would back up in to the disposal. For us, this is not a big problem because this is part of a total kitchen renovation and when we pull the old cabinets out we can easily modify the plumbing. If we were just replacing the sink in existing cabinets, it might be a more difficult proposition. If you already have a deep sink you probably will not have an issue but measure before you buy and have a plumber evaluate if you have any questions.
It works with a garbage disposal but you cannot use the little basket.
I think answers from another model of sink must have gotten mixed up on this question. The one I have is a "Drop-In/Topmount" sink NOT an under-mount. It is designed to be dropped in a properly sized hole. Template included in box. Check the description of the sink you are actually buying to see if it is under-mount or drop-in and make sure it is what you need. Kraus sells both varieties.
I love this sink. I redid my entire kitchen and this puts the finishing touch on the entire project. The large basin is perfect for washing large items. I previously had a double sink, so my only issue with converting to this one basin sink was the placement of my garbage disposal....it moved where my disposal connected because the sink hole was in a different spot so I had to have a plumber come out to cut different hose lengths. But as for the sink itself, its beautiful. I have not had an issue with scratches since there is a grate with rubber feet that goes along the bottom of the sink. It is a bit of a doosey to clean. I had a white sink before so after washing anything I never worried about having to wipe down the sink after anytime i turned on the water because droplets one the walls of the sink will remain super noticeable after it dries. Honestly, as the weeks went on, I just became ok with seeing the spots and now I just clean the sink with a small splash of vinegar every now and then.
The corners are rounded.
Since it is undermount, we didn't strive to match the sink. We used oil-rubbed bronze as all our other hardware is oil-rubbed bronze and it looks fine to us. Only when you stand over the sink do you notice they don't "match." You can see pictures under my review.
yes to both and the basket has a cute handle
If you have an existing sink, just verify that you have clear space (no other pipes) behind the existing GD and you should be fine. I have an Insinkerator Evolution which is not a small disposal and mine sits 2-3 inches from the back wall. It is great having the rear drains because with the GD and drain moved back, you end up with more usable space under the sink base.
My box contained all of the items pictured.
