One of the reviews stated that this had a matte finish, which the person did not like. I am not sure I understand the complaint. It looks like a satin finish and when I zoom in I didn't think the finish was bad. Just wondering as I don't want to hate my sink if I order.
Asked by: GBZ
The finish is definitely a satin finish, although it is feasible that some might call it a matte finish. To clarify, there is a bit of sheen (shine) to the finish. A matte finish would have essentially no sheen at all. Based on my year-plus experience with this sink a finish leaning slightly more towards the matte tone would be an advantage, as one must take reasonable care to avoid causing scratches or scuffs from dropped knives or cleaning with a sponge that has the "non-abrasive" pad on one side.

It is stainless steel. Very nice product. Sleek edges. Also, the rack and removable drain cup are a plus and easy to clean.

So here's my story: I needed an undermount stainless steel sink for my new granite countertops. I bought one that I thought would be fine (after all, a sink's just a sink -- right?). But when I took it out of the box it felt really thin and cheap so I retuned it to the store. Then I bought a more expensive one that included a faucet. The sink was okay but the faucet was junk, and when I researched it I found that it had terrible reviews. Then I saw the Kraus sink online and ordered it. But the next day the counter installers called and wanted to move up the installation date by about two weeks. Since I needed to have a sink on hand before they could do the installation I went and bought a nice name-brand sink (which I'll just call the "AS" brand) thinking I would just return the Kraus sink for a refund after it arrived. But the Kraus sink arrived in only about three days so I had the chance to compare both sinks side by side. Even though the Kraus sink actually cost less, it was far superior to the AS sink. While I'm sure I would have been perfectly content with the AS sink and probably would have never known the difference if I had not done the side by side comparison, once I saw the difference there was just no contest. The Kraus is 16ga instead of 18ga (you can definitely feel the difference!); the sound insulation is noticeably thicker; and it just feels more solid. I tapped both sinks with a spoon to see how noisy they were. The AS sink had a nice solid sound but still rang like a bell (which is basically all an uninstalled steel sink is -- a bell). The Kraus did not ring at all but just made a solid "thunk" when I tapped it. This sink is built like a tank! It is essentially indestructible in any way you could reasonably expect a sink to be. It looks great and the quality is outstanding. Initially, I didn't really see the point of the included little drain basket or the grate that fits in the bottom of the sink, but my wife absolutely loves them and I've since become a believer too. They really are a great addition. Bottom line: If you're looking for a stainless steel sink, buy this one. You could probably find a more "upscale" sink for more money, but I honestly don't know how it would be any better. Quality, beauty, and great value; what else could you possibly want in a sink? If you need a sink, save yourself time, money, and aggravation and just buy a Kraus. If you're not happy with it, the problem is not the sink!

I remodeled my kitchen and I have this sink installed undermounted and flush with granite counter tops. The 16 gauge stainless is nice and quite and great for the price compared to other sinks. The drain baskets that are included seemed neat in the images. I liked the idea of the deep baskets and the cover that comes with it but they are plastic and have a funny inverted nut style of attaching that is different than traditional baskets. It took me forever to find a tool that would tighten the nut from the inside and the basket ended up breaking when I tried to tighten it. I ended up getting some Kohler vibrant stainless steel baskets at Home Depot that matched the sink perfectly and are a lot better quality. Even though the baskets didn't work out the sink is still worth it being 16 gauge, quiet and very attractive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price. I was pleasantly surprised when we purchased this sink. Upon first receiving the box it came in, I remarked at how heavy it was for just a sink. It was very well packed, including being placed in a cloth bag (yes, cloth) inside the padded box. The sink is heavy and quite deep dimensionally. I can't say for certain, but it sure seems thicker than other typical stainless steel sinks. There is sound deadening insulation sprayed on the underside of it which helps prevent the "tinny" sound most SS sinks have. It also comes with accessories; two flat grids that rest on the bottom of the sink, a polishing cloth, and two SS strainers. The accessories alone could be worth up around $50 separately. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase, and I think the price is well worth the quality delivered from Kraus. You could get one cheaper from another manufacturer, but I doubt the quality is as good as this sink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sink This sink was the only one that matched my current Granit cut. It looks durable in my kitchen. I love the Strainer Basket come with it, which is great, and lets the water drains always even if the sink is full of dishes. I never use the dish rack in my kitchen so the other sink is working as a dish rack for me when I am washing pots, and these Strainer Baskets are very helpful to let them dry faster. I love the sound insulators, it makes the garbage disposal less noisy I did not use one of the Strainer Baskets at the beginning and noticed a couple of scratches on the sink, I do not know why, because it supposed to be scratch resistance, I just put very light load of dishes as usual in there. After I decided to use the Strainer Baskets always. I had stainless steel sink before without Strainer Basket and did not have any scratching experience in the sinks. I will keep the sink since it is installed, and would recommend it, just make sure to use the Strainer Baskets always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality sink for good price We received the shipment in less than a week. It has been installed for two weeks now. It is solid, I like the racks for drying in the sink, and the size and depth of both sinks are very good. I thought I wanted a large single sink so I could soak my big pans but my husband encouraged getting this one. The larger sink fits most all my dishes and the small sink is big enough to still be very useful, unlike the tiny second bowl in my previous sink. I got the 16 gauge because my mom's sink is 50 years old and looks the same as it did 10, 20 and 40 years ago. But since we've only had the sink a few weeks, I can't make longer term comments. I see no reason however that this won't last a good long long time. Glad I spent a little extra, and the HD price was most competitive with every other site out there ... with the added benefit of an instore return if I had any issues (we had none).

I really like the grids that come with the sink as they help prevent scratching and it's nice to be able to set items on them. I do find that I have to wipe the sink down quite often to keep it looking good, but I'm getting used to doing that... that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I also like the sound proofing technology and I think it does make a difference. I like to sprinkle some baking soda in the sinks for cleaning since it is non-abrasive and gives the sink a nice shine.

Sink has modern look we sought. Great value in the extra components - sink grate and drain covers. Note: If you have or want a garage disposal with this new sink, tell your installer. We were told by our installer that most single hole sinks do not have a disposal. Kraus confirmed a disposal can be installed.
