Kellogg Garden Organics All Natural Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables revitalizes your native soil, organically. Formulated for in-ground planting of flowers and vegetables, mix All Natural Garden Soil 50/50 with the native soil already in your garden. Added wood fines, a sustainable ingredient, give this soil mix a different look aesthetically, mimicking the forest floor compared to conventional peat-based soil mixes. Like the forest, wood fines in the soil help reduce soil compaction and help retain more moisture allowing for less frequent watering. It also attracts beneficial soil microbes which aid your plant’s resistance to pests and disease. Reap the benefits of the forest floor in your own garden bed with All Natural Garden Soil. And don't forget to add an organic granular fertilizer for extended feeding throughout the season.
  • Formulated with aged wood fines for greater moisture retention
  • Attracts beneficial microbes for greater resistance to pest and disease

Questions & Answers

Use by itself without other soil?

I built some vegetable beds, and bought the all natural garden soil for flowers and vegetables, but don’t have any natural soil to mix it with. Will this work well just buy itself?
Asked by: Glenn
It needs to be mixed in with your garden soil. At least 50/50. This is not for potting soil.

I bought a very large bag of this and when I got it home found mold inside. I'm guessing not good?

Should I feel safe in using bottom half of the bag that looks usable?
Asked by: Audrey59
If it looks usable, use it. If not, you can probably compost it.

Okay. I’m taking your word that this soil is organic, so can this be used for pet millipedes?

None

3 cu. ft. All Natural Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 518.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid at all cost I bought 8 bags of this stuff cause it was cheap and also cause i figured soil is soil, plant it, use Miracle Grow and it will grow but I was SO wrong. I should have followed my gut instinct after the 1st bag because as I was dumping this stuff I was thinking man, this isn't the kind of soil my dad used back in the days. it's not black and fine it's really woody and almost like mulch with big wood pieces. Anyway, make a long story shot my Gebera daisies are on death's doorsteps and pretty much everything is drooping except my fruit trees. Anyway, I spoke to my landscaper/gardener where did I mess up and he said it's not you, the soil I used is bad and that if I had spoken to him earlier he would have warned me against buying it. Now, the argument Kellog's makes is it's supposed to be mixed with native soil and such but I'm thinking you market this has soil and promote it as organic and et cetera but it has to be mixed? Sigh, don't buy this stuff, spend a little extra and get something quality.

The soil itself seems to be a good growing bed, BUT.......................................The soil has SO MANY Flying insects, it is outrageous. My house is infested with gnats, mosquitoes and fly's.If I would have known this was going to happen I would have never bought organic.Suffice to say, I will NEVER buy organic again.I put out fly canisters and in 1 day had to empty and refill.I am to the point of having to call an exterminator for the inside of the house. I even bought organic pesticide to try and kill the population.....so far, NOT TOO much luck. The insects even killed one of my marigold plants I just purchased, they are eating my basil up and my strawberries and totally infested. So DISAPPOINTED.

They do not warn you that it's mostly wood chips, mulch, whatever. They say it gives you better quality or water retention or something but I think it's just lazy and cheap. I would never call this "soil" when 75% of it is wood, not dirt. But what's worse is that it's full of mushroom spores. You water it and you have MUSHROOMS growing all over your garden--TONS of them!!. And they're slimy when you pull them out which is absolutely disgusting! So now I'm constantly battling mushrooms everywhere that will probably never go away unless I dig down and replace a foot of soil at this point. That's what I get for trying something "organic". Never again, Kellogg!

It makes a good mulch or soil amendment. It's not nearly as good as Miracle Grow Garden Soil for in ground use. Plus, it weighs a ton... I wouldn't ever buy it again and I returned 3 of the 4 I bought after opening one of them and using it around my Japanese Maples to retain moisture this summer.

When I transferred the soil into a large pot, I found pieces of colored plastic and gold foil. It also had a bad smell. This soil was definitely not natural or organic! No telling what it really had in it! I ended up taking half of it out and filling the top of the pot with a better quality soil. Very unhappy with the quality of this product!

I don't really have good dirt in my backyard, it is mostly hardy, clay-like stuff that will not let plants grow correctly. so I use Kellogg soil to help make my yard more workable and to give my plants and trees a chance. I think it is a good product for the price that I paid for it. I have bought this product before and I am fairly happy with it.

The compost-like material is rich with organic decomposition. The bag is heavy. Is has 3 cut of COMPRESSED mulch/soil and gave me 4-6 inches of coverage in a 4ft by 6ft box. Some lumps and some loose. I mixed with yard dirt and it makes decent soil for a garden. I used a small rototiller to mix it.

I filled a raised garden bed and still had a few bags left over to even out the lawn surface in my backyard. I also used Kellogg Amend garden soil to enhance the regular garden soil. What a great mix! I will be using Kellogg soils for all of my future garden needs.
