Q:can i adjust this curtain rod to fit my window

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, as long as the window is 66-110 inches wide.

by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes but I have found that the front rod sags if it is near the full extension of the 2 length options - 84" or 110" depending on how many of the rod pieces you use during assembly. My window is 81" wide and I got it screwed in there with the finials as tight as I could and it sags. If you don't need anything close to the full extension you will be happier. The back rod is plenty tight - that's the tension rod. But the front rod at near full extension is very hard to get it to not sag and be stable. Normally you would only put sheers on the back rod and heavier curtains in front but the front rod at near full extension is less stable than the back, so you can actually put heavier curtains on the back than on the front.

I was sent a defective item (missing required brackets). The manufacturer tried to resolve, but could not. Honestly, it was a bigger pain to return and replace than it was worth, so I didn’t bother. I ended up finding an alternative from another source.

The item did not seem to have "tension" rod. Both rods were one size and I could not adjust to fit the space I needed it for. The instructions were poor and not user friendly. Looking to return this item.

I ordered 3 of these but have only installed one so far. They're worth the money, with a couple of provisos. First is that if your window opening is near one of the two extremes for length (they use 2 rod sections for windows 84" or less and 3 rod sections to make it longer to fit 110") then that front rod is pretty flimsy. A kid hanging on the curtain for that front rod will definitely pull it apart. My windows are about 81" wide. When I put it together as recommended, the back rod where you would normally put sheers is very solid and stable if you got that back rod tightened enough. I think it could be tighter than I could get it in but the brackets have a rubber padding on the surface that goes against the window trim and it is VERY hard to push it up as the instructions tell you to get the max tension (you put it in at a slight angle then push the low end up). That rubber doesn't slide at all easily on my window trim. It's ok, I got it in there pretty tight but I am old and decrepit so it was more of a struggle than I would like and it really ought to be a little tighter - but even so that back rod is WAY more stable and curtain-capable than the front rod. And that's the rod you would normally only put sheers on, the heavier curtains would normally go on the outer rod. The one I've opened came in a brown box with the retail box inside of that. The retail box was open at the top and there were parts loose in the box. All the parts were there but be careful to go through the packaging before you toss it. I rated it down 2 stars for the flimsiness of the front rod. If they had designed the rods just slightly differently I could have fixed that by going ahead and using the 3rd rod piece just in front there, but where other manufacturers use a rubber/silicon/Teflon coated fitting to ease the transition from the larger OD to the smaller OD rod that fits in it, these guys have machined that into the metal itself. Had they used a separate piece (basically a tapered ring to soften the transition) I could have cut a few inches off that 3rd rod so there would be less sag in the middle, but since it's machined onto the end I would need to cut (the other end is drilled for the finial to screw into so you can't cut that end off) I can't do that. I got it on there as tight as I could but it still sags and obviously will not support much weight. As manufactured, these are actually only suitable for I would guess up to about 76" to 78", or 84" to 100" if you don't want that front rod to sag badly. The back rod, which is the tension rod, is secure. Possibly getting the single rods from this manufacturer that only have the one back tension rod would be more satisfactory. But at or near the full extension of either 84" or 110" that front rod is problematic. Suitable only for lightweight curtains on the front rod if you're anywhere near full extension.

These were the only curtain rods that I could find that matched our living room and that had the smaller bar INSIDE the window. It was a little confusing to put together, but once we figured it out, it went up quickly. It looks really nice and I love that there are no extra holes in the wall to go with it.

Struggled a little bit bc I installed it alone, but even then it was fairly straightforward once you figure out which bar goes where. With two people it should be a breeze.
