Yes, this is built to be all weather resistant.
What keeps the lid from opening if the wind catches it? Does it snap in place. I know there is a latch that can be locked but that is not what I am asking.
The lid does not snap into place but the hinges do provide some resistance when the lid is closed.
During really high winds (over 40mph) my lid popped open several times. I finally had to put a tight-fitting stick through the holes of the lock to keep it in place until I can get a lock for it.
