The device drains water out the back, is there a way to turn off the dehumidifier while keeping the cool going?

Asked by: Jack
There is no way to turn off the humidifier portion of the air conditioner. As matter of fact that's the way it is supposed to work. By removing moisture from the air it helps cool better. This system is designed to dry most of the excess water as it cools. I have had this system for 10 years (2nd unit) and it has never shut off or issued a warning to empty the water tanks. In particularly humid weather if I have not run the AC for a while, I will drain off a couple of gallons from the top drain plug into a receptacle until the humidity in the air dissipates. Doing this seems to help the room cool more quickly. I hope this helps.

Is there a window adapter for vertical installation for taller windows? My window height measures 56 inches tall.

If so, how can I order an adapter. Also, is there an extension for the duct?

One of the few units that has a front air discharge, which directs air outward instead of upward, which cools the room better, in my opinion. It also is the only unit that has the great "follow me" remote feature where the remote control acts as a remote thermostat as well as a function control. This is my second unit. The first one lasted for 6 years of extremely heavy use. This unit give me the best "bang for my buck!"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice unit Bought this unit and a comparable unit made by Haier at the same time for comparison's sake. This unit uses two condenser air hoses instead of one, this allows the unit to set closer to curtains and not suck them against the unit. The swing feature helps to move the air over a larger area and the follow me feature acts as a remote thermostat. The window kit is more complete and functional. Both units condensate air lines smell undesirable due to the moisture removal features,(which is not smelt in the house just in the hoses that run outside).I recommend this unit over the Haier unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty much what I expected Like all portable AC Units, they do not cool the square foot coverage as stated. This is a 700 sq. ft. unit, but it only cools our living room of about 500 square feet. But I have come to expect that with these units. So if you are considering this unit or any others, keep in mind it will cover about 200 square feet less than advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 14,000 BTU Portable AC works well This product does exactly what it supposed to do. One thing, the assembly of the hose in the back is very difficult and did not hold well. Had to use duct tape to secure it on both end sections. That should be corrected. But the machine works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Last year my central HVAC went out. I bought the 12000btu for the room I sleep in. Like an icebox if I want it that cold. I bought another one for a larger bedroom and just installed it. The only extra thing I had to do was cut the guide to fit the smaller window and land two wood screws in the window frame to keep the window in place. Placed the hose in place window to unit and powered it on. Within minutes the temperature in that room dropped about 10 degrees. O so happy. I went back to the store I bought it from and they aren't carrying it at this time, which was a disappointment. However Home Depot does! I may very well buy the 14K/15K btu unit for the livingroom. I believe it will keep that large area bearable this summer in South Carolina. It gets to 110 degrees here, not having air conditioning is not an option. As for people saying installation is difficult, I'm a 59 year old woman and no engineer. Easy peasy and I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keystone 14000 BTU portable air conditioner Purchased for small bedroom 150sq ft.. Tested unit in open area approx 1000-1200 sq ft and amazingly kept temp at 76-78 while 96-98 degrees. We use swamp cooler with 1 H.P motor for this area but when humidity over 50% pretty useless. Needless to say the Keystone stays put and has been used extensively with great satisfaction. A great unit and highly recommended. Like the swing button and timer buttons.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Incorrect btu It claims 14000 when it's only 13500 btu, and inaccurate cooling room.

Cooled well enough, but not as well as a considerably less powerful and less expensive window unit. The problems: 1. Not really portable -- a hassle to set up and then take down and move to another room. 2. The hose falls off immediately and every time. 3. There are TWO areas in the back of the unit where water is released (from dehumidifier and ?), and no receptacle for capturing it, Also make portability difficult.
