What has a humongous yellow slide and room for ten crazy kids? Our quirky two-level Creston Lodge Playset by KidKraft delivers all that and more. A multi-colored climbing rockwall leads kids (and other mountain goats) to the upper clubhouse, where the giant 12 ft. Twist N’ Ride tube slide transports them safely back down. Then it’s off to the swing set, for bouts on the belt swings and gymnastic acro bar. Back at the clubhouse, a few surprises await like a play kitchen complete with stove, sink, utensils and shelf. A mailbox with working flag and door. A play phone and clock with moveable hands. And a chalkboard for creative writing and drawing. Design details abound in the shiplap roof with faux stone chimney, decorative gable truss and arched pane windows. And safety is integral at every point, from the heavy-duty swing chains and hangers to the child-friendly stain on the premium cedar lumber. Whimsical, yes. But the Creston Lodge Playset makes a lot of sense where it counts in your own back yard.

Questions & Answers

Can you change a swing for glider or baby swing?

Asked by: Laura
We did, though had to buy the baby swing separately. I'm sure a glider would also fit (have done on similar swing sets).

How do you need to prep the ground? I have a very slight slope and what do you recommend using as the ground cover?

Asked by: Cindy
The kit recommends mulch or soft dirt, not grass as kids can get hurt falling from the top onto grass. We did it on grass.

Hi There, All KidKraft products have been designed with safety and quality as our primary priority. Any modifications made to the original product could damage the structural integrity of the unit leading to failure and possible injury. Modification of the play set will also void any and all warranties as we cannot guarantee the safety or stability of the modified play set. Not meant to be used indoors. Creston Lodge Wooden Playset is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the quality I expected for the price. We bought ours about 2 1/2 months ago but didn't get a chance to put it together until now.We had pieces that had cracks, pieces that were to long and we had to cut it and although looked like cedar when we cut it found it's not. There were pieces that were short as well and many screw holes didn't match up. We've built may things before but never had this much trouble. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DIY nightmare slide Although this playset is amazing, the directions are easy to follow and my daughter loves it, the twisty slide made the neighbors think a bunch a sailors had moved in next door. After almost 6 hours of trying to bend, beg, curse at and generally beat every uncooperative piece into place we were about ready to give up. Holes didn't line up and then once it was all in place you had to remove parts of your hard work to insert just one more supportive piece. Blood was shed in the assembly of this slide. And after it was all assembled my daughter refused to go down it. Talk about rubbing salt in my raw wounds. We only went with the twisty slide due to a sale going on. If we were to do it again we'd just go with the straight slide.

It took 4 of us to put this together, and one of which have put a few of these together. The instructions are a complete joke...hard to read images of parts, inadequate details of which parts go together. The pre-drilled holes on the playset weren't too difficult, and we got the majority of it put together in 1 day. What took the rest of the week to do was putting the slide together. Imagine trying to bolt 3-4 parts together at the same time, when the pre-drilled holes don't line up. There's a plastic ring that attaches each section of the slide to the next section...and getting it to come together took all 4 people leaning, pushing barely getting it to go. What WOULD have made it easier is longer bolts that you could tighten so it pulls it together....or honestly a different assembly design. In the end, we used zip ties to get the holes lined up, cut then slide a bolt in. And that only partially worked. We got it in place and found it easier just to drill our our friggin holes in this slide. The rest of the playset wasn't impossible..just time consuming..expect 3-4 days with a few people who have experience.

However, it is far from easy to assemble and my husband is incredibly good at building and assembling furniture (he builds his own too). The 'pre-drilled holes' are a joke - as in they aren't there in the wood. The kit comes with it's own drill bit (square screws, not philips or straight) and the bit doesn't fit into standard drills or electric screw drivers. The slide has to be completely hand screwed and there are A LOT of bolts on it. You must have two people to assemble the slide (everything else can be done by one - except putting the roof on top). Overall, it's a solid construction and I'm sure it will last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kids love it. Husband hated putting together The kids are out of their mind excited! Took hubby many days to put this together alone. Some parts are, like the instructions suggest, a two person job. :) The instructions were easy to understand and all of the parts were there w/ extra bolts and screws. Don't forget to factor in the cost of the material you need to place below the structure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great value but not for first time DIY Overall the product seemed exceptable. The tornado slide was a nightmare to put together-the plastic holes did not line up and we are still struggling to mount the braces to the play unit and slide. Definitely not something a weekend warrior should try and attempt to put together-hire it out if you do not have experience with tools. We spent every bit of the time allotted in the instructions to put this unit together-feeling at times like a portion of the parts should've already come semi assembled. If we had to do it all over, we definitely would had hire someone to put together!
