About This Product

The P4010DCSCO-W is a 10-year, sealed battery smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm that features supervised wire-free interconnect capability and provides enhanced intelligibility for users. The voice warning feature accompanies the 85dB tone during an alarm event, and helps reduce confusion with verbal announcements such as "Replace alarm" at end of alarm life, and "Hush mode activated" when a nuisance alarm is silenced. The three color LED ring helps users quickly determine standby, alarm, or error mode of the alarm.Kidde P4010 Series Alarms contain 10-year tamper proof batteries that eliminate the need for battery replacement, and ends worry over unauthorized removal. Users are further shielded from late night battery chirps by the unit's Ambient Light Sensing feature, which establishes a day/night cycle and prevents alarm chirping in dark conditions.Wire-Free Interconnect triggers each connected alarm in the home to sound once smoke is detected, which can provide more time to react. The National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72) has required smoke alarms in new homes to be interconnected since 1989, which traditionally involves running wiring to each alarm. Older and remodeled homes can now be updated to current standards without having to run any wiring to each alarm through walls and ceilings. Existing networks of interconnected alarms can be expanded with use of a single AC Wire-Free Alarm and additional compatible DC Wire-Free alarms.

As long as all units are from the same series, will a smoke-only detector announce the correct alert, call it fire anyway, or do nothing at all (responses from Kiddie in 2019 went both ways on this option) if a combination detector notes a CO problem?

                Answer This Question

Hello. This is not a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm, but will receive and transmit a CO alarm signal (with voice message) from an interconnected CO or combination smoke/CO alarm.

                  The alarm that cried "FIRE"
These smoke detectors are the worst i have ever had in my life and we are talking 20 years of having smoke detectors at different houses and apartments. Ive had so many flase alarms with these pieces of crap that im ditching this brand all together. I contacted the company last time I had multiple false alarms and they sent me new ones which means they know this is a problem. You know what also is a problem? Having the kill you 10 year smoke detector 2 years after install because of so many false alarms in 1 night. Now I have to go without a smoke alarm until the new one arrives in the mail? Whatever you do DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP SMOKE DETECTOR!! unless its for revenge on an ex or something because you seriously will regret spending money on a smoke detector that requires regular cleaning with forced air and will still have false alarms

                    Terrible Alarms
We installed these in our house in 2021 (they are supposed to last 10 years) and they go off randomly constantly. There is no fire, and no carbon monoxide. Some dust, the humidity, the air blowing wrong? Will set them off, and then they set each other off yelling “FIRE FIRE” and when we try to reset them, they say there is too much smoke to do so. There is no smoke. A huge waste of money and honestly make me question if they’ll work correctly in an actual emergency.

                      Junk. False alarms
These are junk. Between the false alarms and low battery chirp (these aren’t even 5 yrs old) I can’t take it, in the trash they all go.

                        Daily False Alarms!!
I bought ten of these, and I've thrown every single one of them away over the past year and a half. They go off all the time for now apparent reason, often in the middle of the night. I am replacing them all with Google Nest / First Alert detectors, which have not had any issues so far.

                          Buyer Beware
Same issue as everyone else. 4am false alarm then again at 6am. I tried to deactivate using the tab on the back but the plastic is so soft there's now a hole in the malfunctioning unit and I can't get it to deactivate. I'm praying we don't have continued issues. I have an autistic child at home who is prone to self injury when scared. It was a horrible night and we're all exhausted.

Connection lost!… Chirps — Does not reset
We bought this combo alarm & after a year & a half it started to chirp. It’s clean in a home office. We tried resetting it & it gives the “connection lost” message then continues with amber blinks ..and next day starts to chirp again with “connection lost” message.

Complete garbage, constant false alarms, always having to be re-synched. The customer service is even worse, been waiting on a refund that was supposed to take 6-8 weeks for 6 months.

                                    Does Not Work
This item does not work. I have an adult daughter who has autism and a significant communication disorder. So I was excited to have a smoke detector that states “Fire” aloud when there is a problem. However multiple units (we bought 7 for entire home) are continually losing connectivity with the master smoke detector. Bought in 1/2023, malfunctions almost immediately, replaced 2 bedroom units in April 2024, had to replace master unit in July 2024. By April 2025 two units stopped working and 2 other units (1 of which was installed in 4/2024) gave a message to replace unit. Currently 2 units are continuously beeping (previously they had announced “connection lost” every single day). I bought these and they were installed by a professional heating and electrical company. The company tried on numerous occasions to make the devices work, with no luck. I wish they worked, but they do not.
