About This Product

Kidde FireX P4010ACSCO is an AC/DC powered, combination photoelectric smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that contains a 10-year, sealed battery backup and voice messaging system. The voice warning feature accompanies the 85dB tone during an alarm event, and helps reduce confusion with verbal announcements such as "Replace alarm" at end of alarm life, and "Hush mode activated" when a nuisance alarm is silenced. Kidde P4010 Series Alarms contain 10-year tamper proof batteries that eliminate the need for battery replacement, and ends worry over unauthorized removal. Users are further shielded from late night battery chirps by the unit's Ambient Light Sensing feature, which establishes a day?/?night cycle and prevents alarm chirping in dark conditions.

WILL THIS MOEL FIT WITH MODEL P4010DCSO
      ByAug 29, 2025

      Answer This Question

Hello. You will have to change out the mounting brackets at each location but that will just take a screwdriver to change out. You will either have to change out and rewire the wiring harness plugs at each location or you can choose to use the 20-9003 adaptors model 21032239 to adapt the old plugs to our new alarms. The adaptors would plug into the old plugs and the new alarms would plug into the adaptors.

          Answer This Question

Hello. You will need to replace the mounting brackets at each location, which can be done easily with a screwdriver. For the wiring, you can either rewire the harness plugs at each location or use the 20-9003 adaptors (model 21032239) to connect the old plugs to the new alarms. The adaptors will allow the new alarms to plug directly into the existing wiring.

When a kidde intelligent smoke alarm has a green light on it, what does that mean. How to tell when the battery is low?
            ByMay 5, 2025
            2 Answers |
            Answer This Question

The green light means it connected and working properly. These are 10 year sealed lithium batteries. So, no changing of batteries is needed.

Hello. For this model, the unit chirps every 60 sec, voice every 30 sec: “Replace alarm.” Voice stops after 5 mins. The amber light blinks every 5 seconds. Other models have other indicators but all are chirps every 30 or 60 seconds. Please call us with your alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 and we can tell you more.

Yes. But I just installed one and it has wires from the smoke detector to the wire connector in the ceiling The old model just connected from the ceiling wires to the unit. It was hard getting all that wiring and connector back up in the hole.

                      Random False-positive Fire/Smoke Alarms
I bought 4 of these models and regret the purchase very much. Just like many others, I've had numerous, random, false-positives in the early AMs about fire/smoke where there was none. I ended up disconnecting them, to isolate potential problematic units, but it ended up being random - many months in-between false alarms. At least 3 out of the 4 I've purchased had a false positive fire or smoke alarm go off. I'm not ruling out the 4th unit as it's impossible to know that it wasn't one of the units triggering false alarm when they were all wired together, but I haven't had it go off in isolation.

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience, Slavko. That’s not the performance we expect, and we understand how frustrating intermittent alarms can be, especially when they’re difficult to trace. In some cases, interconnected alarms can all sound when one unit is triggered, which can make it challenging to identify the source. Environmental factors like dust, humidity, or placement near kitchens or HVAC vents can also play a role. Our support team would like to help review this further and find a resolution. Please contact us at 1-800-880-6788 or Kidde.product.support@kgsolutions.com.
                        Keep away from this model
Keep away from this model. I installed it less than one year ago, and it has had two false alarms with no smoke or CO2 issues. Came home to the alarms sounding and ran frantically through the whole house to find nothing that should set it off. My previous smoke/CO2 detectors lasted 10 years without any issues. Reading the reviews, I see this must be a manufacturer's defect, as others are having the same false alarm issues, which are not pleasant.

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. Nuisance alarms can occur for different reasons which include common things like —cooking, aerosols, steam, or dust entering the sensor. Here are some tips to help solve this… you can use the Hush feature if safe to do so (i.e., confirming there is no actual fire) , clean the alarm thoroughly with compressed air into sensor openings, and ensure it’s placed away from kitchens and bathrooms, as well as HVAC vents and fans. If the behavior continues after cleaning and relocating, please contact 1-800-880-6788 for additional support or replacement options.
                          False Alarms
Our electrician installed this unit at the end of 2023 and by mid-2025 it’s given us three false alarms. This time it yelled fire, woke up the baby, and threw me into a panic. Our house is clean and was updated before these were installed. It’s flashing amber so the alarm is just toast and now we don’t have a carbon monoxide alarm until someone can get here and put in a new once, since I won’t be replacing it with the same unit. This thing is only two years old, of a 10-year life, and it’s dead. Very disappointed in Kidde.

                              HD SENT Defective Product
I ordered this product online at home depot.com. When I received theorder, the box had already been opened. My guess is someone already returned it because it does not work and, for some unknown reason, they decided to ship it to someone new. First off, the alarm would not fit into either the bracket which was already installed nor the bracket that came with it. When it was plugged in, it immediately told me to replace the alarm. I tired multiple times with the same results. HD clearly sent me a defective product. That’s only how the fun started. I called to get a return label to return the product but was informed that this product, purchased online, could only be replaced in the store. I went to the store and was told the aisle where this l was supposed to be located but, you guessed it, they did not actually have it. The only model they had that was similar required an adapter. This model, which is a lower quality model ended up costing me e money than the one they sold me online. I complained about the policy that they cannot replace something purchased online without going to the store and was told that online and stores are 2 different entities which really makes no sense for them not to replace online items online. The bottom line is I purchased something online, HD sent me a defective product, and I had to spend about 2.5 hours of my weekend trying to get the issue fixed which was clearly their fault. I only have 1 star because 0 was not an option.

Avoid these and get something else.
As others have stated, these are to be avoided. They go off randomly all the time usually when you're sleeping. I live in a townhouse and the builder put these in every unit, 7 in mine. Ours have tripped at least 10 times in 2 months and have been replaced and still have issues. As I'm writing this I hear a neighbors going off, which I hear daily. We reset them and they say "smoke previously detected" but there was nothing. Im in the process of replacing mine today with a different brand.

                                  BEWARE - Faulty Alarms!
Thought I was golden when purchasing these alarms. 10-year battery sounded perfect. Had I only known the life of the product would only reach 15 months, I never would have purchased them. We are now plagued with false alarms (and why are they always in the middle of the night)! Of course, we are out of our 12-month manufacturer warranty to return. Wish I read all the reviews on the manufacturer’s site before purchasing. I’m not the only one. Nearly $500 later and now I have to start looking for replacements?!

This unit is subject to false alarms. Go to kiddie website for reviews, overwhelming 1 star reviews. Not sure why HD reviews are so high. Buyer beware. I purchased this unit with two other different units to hard wire together. The first unit had multiple problems. To HD credit, they replaced the unit, but second unit had same problem. I am going replace all the units, at a high cost, but will avoid this model and make.

I installed 3 of these in Sept 2023. By April I started getting false alarms. The unit is installed per the mfg instructions. Not near any vents, ducts, flues, and in a clean living space. I used a computer duster to blow out the sensor but we were still getting false alarms. Now it’s may 2024 we have had 5 false alarms in the past 3 days. I carefully removed and blew out the chamber again. Now there were 3 in the past 24hrs. 12:21pm, 4:24am and again 7:22am. *DO NOT BUY*
