Code One Battery Operated Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector with Ionization Sensor and Voice Alarm

Great product, easy to install with instructions. My home was pre-wired for this alarm in 3 areas but instructions are clear & easy to follow. If unsure, seek an electrician. Safety of your loved ones is worth the price!

1 year and ~5 times of handling and now it's hanging from the ceiling by its wires. 2 ears that hold the unit into the base broke off. When I went to put it back onto the base this morning, the other 2 ears fell off on the floor. So now it won't stay mounted on the ceiling. Did I mention, 1 year and 5 times? Clearly not designed or manufactured for its use environment. What kind of quality is that?

Simple to install: installed three in less that an hour. All warn simultaneously when a smoke or CO risk is detected at any single unit plus there is an an audible (voice) so the risk is identified by name (no guessing what the reason might be for the alarm). Money well spent: previous units were more than 10 years old: experts recommend time to replace. These new and upgraded units installed right into the old mounting locations.

Here she is, just hanging there looking pretty and blinking at me with her beautiful red LED every 60 seconds to let me know that she's checking for smoke and CO... she's mesmerizing, and has provided hours of entertainment so far! And if you ever get lonely and bored, just push her test button for some extra excitement as she will speak to you/beep at you. Though, I must say, she's not much of a conversationalist, as she just repeats the same rather monotone phrases ("Warning, smoke detected"; "Warning, carbon monoxide detected") over and over with beeps in between. I think she's hard of hearing because she speaks/beeps loudly and doesn't respond to verbal input. I'm going to have to deduct her one point due to the lack meaningful conversation; oh, and due to the fact that her sensor has only about a 7-year life, thus requiring periodic replacement. I'd prefer a longer term relationship. She is, however, relatively low maintenance and low cost with just periodic battery replacement (2 AA) which is a characteristic I like that in a lady. She replaces my previous Kidde smoke & CO detector, which conveniently let me know she needed replaced in the middle of the night with incessant beeping (she will also let you know in the middle of the night when her batteries need replaced). I'd prefer more traditional "honey-do list" left for me on the frig or the kitchen counter in the morning, but seeing as she doesn't have hands, I'd settle for a note sent via e-mail or text. I do like the fact that this newer model has access to battery compartment from the front of the unit; no need to remove it from the wall.

This excellent fire and carbon monoxide talking alarm is easy to install and batteries last more than a year, it is a must to have if you care about fire or carbon monoxide inside your dwelling. Two years ago after a city inspection recommendation, I installed two in my unit and now installing 3 more in other units.

One unit serves 2 functions! Fire or CO means alarm! Get out! Put in the battery. Simple to mount. Save the lives of your loved ones. Can't beat that!

I have a condo and I saw on the news where some people lost their life from Carbon Monoxide in a building similar to mine. It immediately dawned on me that I should get a Carbon Monoxide alarm. For a minimal cost, I think it is worth the potential life saving benefit and with the Smoke Alarm built in, the value is increased even more.

This detector makes it easier to change the batteries. The battery department is now located on the face. I don't have to take the whole thing down. I also like it having a carbon monoxide alarm. Two alert in one saves ceiling space. I had one previously, over 5 years, and it just started alarming. I changed the batteries, but that did not stop it. I replaced the old one with a new one and everything worked out fine.
