Don't use this detector. It's a battery-operated single station unit that cannot be connected into a multi-station system.

Will this fit the base unit of the old Kidde model #0916?

Usually the beep means the battery is getting weak, but if the detector is is ten years old it has really also reached near the end of the life of it and it is safer to replace the detector for your safety that it works as it should for your safety.

I just bought these 9 months ago. Today, I walked into my house and the alarm was going off. Worried, holding my baby, I immediately left my house and called the fire department. These detectors or "defectors" are old and from 2014! I definitely didn't get my money's worth out of them. Extremely disappointed!

Bought enough to replace all of the outdated ones in the house. They are smaller in diameter and more flush to the ceiling. These smaller detectors will expose at least one of the mounting holes from our previous larger ones. We planned on repainting to fix the holes.

This is a perfectly acceptable old-style battery-powered ionization smoke detector. It uses a 9-volt battery, which should last about a year and then must be replaced. Newer smoke detectors have a non-replaceable battery that should last about 10 years. That's fine, except that the new units cost $30+, as compared to $4.98 for the Kidde detector.
