The wiring is the same so there are no issues; my units are also different but work fine. Press the test button to insure they all work.

Yes, it can be installed on the wall, as a close as possible to the ceiling. I have done that several times when I have a suspended ceiling. But also check with your town inspect that they will allow it

I need a replacement unit for my old 2011 one. However, the old one has 3 prongs in the back, does this one have these?

Yes. If the connector currently installed is a different configuration (typically there are 2 styles), this one is packed with the correct one for it and installs easily. Work with one wire at a time and there will be no shock hazard.
