Questions & Answers

What color of light does the unit emit to know that it is working properly? Blue? Yellow? Red?

Asked by: Badstager
Hello Badslager, The unit will have a steady green LED when it is receiving electricity. The red LED will flash every 30-45 seconds in normal operation.

When battery is low it says the complete warning “BEEP-BEEP-BEEP! Fire! Fire! Carbon Monoxide Detected!” in all alarms.

How do I figure out which alarm needs batteries?
Asked by: Jo
Hello JO, The unit will say, "low battery" when the battery is low. The unit in full alarm is indicative of smoke, or something getting into the unit and interfering with the sensor. Use compressed air through the sides of the unit to clear the obstruction.

HD has two of these units with the only difference being one is a Kidde and the other is a Kidde FireX. What is the difference that makes the FireX $2 more? Does this unit come with a 10 year warantee? I don't see it listed.
Asked by: JAswoman
Hello Jaswoiman, There is no difference as Firex has been part of Kidde since 2009. This unit has a 10 year warranty.

Is this compatible with Kidde FireX units on the same network/wiring?

Is this compatible with Kidde FireX units on the same network/wiring?
Asked by: Samuel
Hello Greenbean950, No. Firex became part of Kidde in 2008 and the product was discontinued. The wiring harness on the FIREX is different from the Kidde units and will need to be changed as well as the mounting ring. The units are not compatible, so when you replace one, you need to replace them all.
